How many players in your instance are you used to see at most?

10-15 at most, and that was in Yembo during community goal so I would say it must have been crowded during the peak gaming hours.

What's an instance? If you're talking human and not NPC controlled ships then:

The most open symbols I've ever seen at once is 2. Occasionally 1. Usually none.

Spawned 1st ship in Federation space. Been there ever since and don't think I've ever been much further than 60Ly or so from SOL. Does that make a difference?

Open play Tenche was easily 20 ships at a time in Blah Hub. I've also seen scroll bars on the communication panel in Yembo Supercruise.

It varies. We've all got rather spread out.
I've become 'friend' with about 8 Cmdrs, but none of us is anywhere near each other in galaxy and yet we were in the same systems once.
I've said a 'hello' to the odd one I see, but short of interdicting them, I rarely get much answer. They are usually just passing through.
I'm based around the Vequess system, but had been out in the sticks.
Try going to the Lave systems, I believe a lot of players head that way. It'll be mostly people who remember the original game. :)
I would have though the places you find most populated might be found by following the Galnet news feeds.

There's 400 billion stars out there, even within a 60LY radius there must be hundreds if not thousands. the chances of seeing other's without planning it are quite remote I would think.
If you see people, say hi, some will be happy to chat, some not.

including NPCs? around 20 to 30.
No, no... I'm talking of human players in Open mode. Trying to understand why I see not so many humans... The cap *should* be 32 but who has ever seen so many human players at once? Are we being distributed to improve performances even if we are less than 32 and with a compatible ping?

Probably about 8 fellow CMDRs when i was still around the LHS 3447 area. I don't see more than two now, though I'm off the beaten track.

Usually none, but I've seen one or two pass by. The most I've ever seen at one point is probably like 5 or 6. I don't like to be in the heavily populated areas.

A mere handful. I think being on the other side of the planet and the game using p2p that there are less Commanders to interact with.

Currently I'm seeing exactly zero, as I'm over 6000LY from Sol :D It's nice and quiet out here.

Probably 10-12 at most. Usually one or two every couple of hours - I usually stray around in the fringes of Imperial space.

Just started a rare trade run - four rare systems done, haven't seen anyone yet.

I decided to fly to some of the rare systems to do some Bounty hunting (PVP) but saw very few commanders at all, saw more around the stations actually but in SC just 1 or 2.

So I decided to head over to the Lave area where I'd heard there was a lot of activity, nothing, like a ghost town in SC but 4-5 at stations.

I don't need money I need action.

4-5 lastnight at conflict zone. It was fun, but with slow internet connection i see thier ships warp/disappear a lot. Ended up getting blown to bits lol, i guess i got focus fired.

I guess its time to upgrade my unternet connection..
