Each to their own but the fact FD missed such a basic exploit shows how they must have felt the same as majority. "Why would you do that?", taking one decent mission from the bulletin board could easily net you 10x times that if you succeed.

I started in a Cobra and I ain't gonna blow myself up just to get 1000 measely credits

'sides... after running a delivery mission I have 12K (and 100 cr) in the bank.

ps: You should have sold your Eagle - roughly 44K if I remember the shipyard price correctly.

Didn't see the point. Picked up a courier mission at the very first station that gave me over 1,000 credits. Played for just over an hour, just buzzing around various systems and did a few more courier missions, and quit with just over 5,000 credits. The 100 credit start isn't an issue. It's really not that hard to make money at all.

It really hasn't taken long to build up 25k just by accepting a few trade missions and a bit of system scanning on the way!
