Engineers How many rolls at g5 max?

Just curious how many rolls people typically make once you've hit max rank, I know it's guaranteed to improve (until the stats can't improve) for every reroll at grade 5, but is there a typical average amount of rolls people do before calling it good?

i.e. 3 rolls at max will get you into the 98th percentile or something like that.

It takes around 7-10 rolls to max a G5 module in my experience*, once you're ranked up.
It tends to be less for simple mods with no experimental like heat sinks.
It's often more for things like thrusters or shield gens.

(*over 30 engineered ships in 3.x spec.)

Exactly the answer I was looking for! Thanks Bob!

I do not know how true this is, but after I followed a recommendation I read here about waiting a few seconds between rolls, I have mostly been at around 8 rolls for G5, compared to before when I was more around 10.

This could just be a fluke and just due to RNG.

I mean, there was no guarantee with the old method you'd get a perfect roll, now you can incrementally ensure it. Heard about people rolling fsds dozens of times if not more to get up there, unless I'm missing a different iteration of them.

I see I was not clear and you got confused by my use of "before" and thinking that was referencing the old system.

I mean in the current system....
When I was trying to get this done as fast as possible, I tended to on average be around 10 rolls for G5

When I pause for a few seconds between rolls, I am now averaging around 8 rolls on G5

This is my observation and I could just have been more lucky lately.

Interesting, at least you qualified it.

Bring a dead cat next time.
Swing that sucker over your head!

I think that about 6 rolls virtually guarantees a 90% of max or better. Less than 6 it's all over the map.

For 100%, with few exceptions, depending of the values that are in play, you will need (in my experience) 8 to 12 or even more rolls.
