How many save files?

So sorry if this has been asked many times before, but how many save files are there on one account? Is it just one save per £19.99 or multiple? The game seems great value either way but I can see trouble ahead if there's just one. Think RCT gave three files but this isn't RCT.

Today's the the last preorder price day too, I guess.......why do I leave it last minute??????

Seen a number of concerns from a few posters today regarding things they haven't had confirmed (have more faith in Frontier guys!). No reason at all to think it would ever be just 1 save file and can't even see why it wouldn't be unlimited saves.

Ok, maybe I'm paranoid. I'd expect the number of save files to be known, especially if limited to one. I own Elite dangerous as a lifetime backer and that's just the one save file though. So it's an unknown then?
