how many ships there was suposed to be at launch ?

i dont recall..

i know they promised either 20 or 25 at launch;

but then somewhere else they also promised to add 5 additional ships after launch with updates....

and dont they already said on the kickstarter page they will, again, add 5 more ships if more money was achieved in the kickstarter ??

so how many ships there will be at final ?

thanks

It was supposed to be 25, then they lowered it to 20 with remaining 5 shortly after launch, then they couldn't get the 20 out by launch and said they'd do 30 ships total to make up for so few ships at launch. All before DLC ships start to get added.

15 ships were promised at launch, with 10 being added during KS as far as I remember to make it 25 (but no one said that all 25 will be available at launch), then just before the release they have announced that they are adding 5 more ships to the game to make it 30. And all Beta players are going to get one of the ##26-30 ships free. All ships will be purchasable for the in-game currency, of course.

It was the Freagle right? or should I be expecting another free ship?

15 was original KS promise and I see it good enough for ED 1.0.
We have 20 (I think now).
25 was a stretch goal. I see it something released over time. We need just 5 more.

They padded 5 additional more as pre-release promise (to drive preorders a bit).

My problem however isn't lack of ships. They can always add more, via paid expansions. My problem that there are no shuttles, smaller ships, etc. mostly driven by NPC...

As I understand it - in addition to the Freagle (or loaned Cobra starting ship for Kickstarter backers), once all 30 ships are out, all those who backed from Beta and before will get to pick one of those last five released and will get it for free.

I could be wrong. But that was how I understood it.

I'm sure it will change if this indeed what was meant at launch....everything else has and for the worse.

We don't get to pick.

Getting the free ship now is just pointless. For most people that have been playing the game since then, buying anything up to a mid-level ship is just dipping into the credits pot. Even some friends of mine that play a couple of hours a week have over 100mill credit worth of ship. What would we be given? A 500,000 credit viper equivalent? A 5 million Vulture equivalent?

What does it matter unless it is exclusive to us since it is really just some free credits?

I suppose what I'm saying is that it has taken so long to fulfil this promise that for the people it was made to it is more or less a worthless promise even if they fulfil it.

Or it could need to be unlocked with a high reputation or at the end of a mission chain (wishful thinking probably). It might even be that it's a ship for CQC, something like a Mamba for racing.

I agree with that. Of course maybe they'll introduce the multiple cmdrs thing that was mentioned by the devs a long time ago, then they'll be useful. If they're small fighter sized ships then they may also be usable in the CQC thingy, which will make their addition feel less pointless.

Agree with this and have brought it up myself several times.
We need an immersive population of the ED universe with non-player ships in all kinds of background roles.
We need tugs, maintenance ships, repair vessels, tankers, all kinds of awe inspiring military vessels etc.

Compare for example with what the Tie-fighter and X-Wing games had: Lots of non-player military and civilian vessels that added to the feel of realism and immersion in a big way. You really felt part of a bigger universe because of it.

This is one of the reasons I consider the game to be still in Early Access. The release goals haven't been met yet, and we all know how many bugs there are.
