How many Sidewinders?

A fully kitted-out Anaconda (the most powerful shields and weapons at least), how many bog-standard Sidewinders do you guys reckon it could take on and at least survive without resorting to running away? All pilot skills being broadly equal (ish)?

I'd say more than four.

Anacondas are tough, starting lasers on a Sidewinder are very weak, and even then, Sidewinders would have to take turns drawing the line of fire of the Anaconda while the others wait for their shields to recharge, flying around its weak angles and giving it all they've got. How many Sidewinders are needed for that will depend on how long they can evade the line of fire, and how fast the Anaconda can recharge its shields. And it would take a very, very long time.

I've fought NPC Anacondas in a starting Sidewinder before, and everytime I gave up once I realized that it took ages to bring down its shields, only to damage it slightly before they recharge.

As an addendum, I'm wondering if an Anaconda couldn't simply max shields and sit there, while Sidewinders wouldn't even be able to take them down. The fact that NPCs usually neglect to recharge their shields before some time makes them kinda weak, but I suppose a smart player would have the intelligence of realizing he'd just expose weaknesses by bothering to shoot back.

It's a good question. Assume four smart players in stock sideys swarming the Anaconda. The Anaconda's ability to cut down the sideys is very dependent on its loadout. Those big shields are sturdy, but 8 pulse lasers hammering on it are nothing to be laughed at.

Of course a better question would be "how many maxed out / well equipped sideys can you take on with a maxed out / well equipped Anaconda. 3 - 5 would be my guess, depending on the loadout on both sides.

I'm going for the other side of the spectrum. I have no real approximation other than the exaggeration: "50".

Reasoning: I was hunting for some PvP a few weeks back in my A-Viper. Came across a Sidey and fired, you know, a few "come at me bro" shots. By the time I realized he was actually dying there were enough M-Cannon shots in the air to finish him off. He must have lasted 4 - 5 seconds. I felt bad.

Either way, having now "fought" both a default Sidey and an Anaconda in the same ship I know the difference in power. You gonna need tons of Sideys: especially if the Anaconda is rocking turreted weapons.

Depends on what level of "equal" skill you are referring two.

If all pilots are novices, the Anaconda could probably take down a dozen of them. If they are all very good, the Anaconda might have trouble with two or three.
