How many slaves fits into 1t of cargo?

As per the subject. I always wondered...

How are the slaves transported actually? Are the cargo canisters the same as other cargo (visually)? I've never seen one now when I think about it.

I don't know, but I always assumed that it was different rules for slaves - instead of 1t, I assumed one person per canister, and the "canister" is actually some sort of stasis pod that keeps slaves unconscious until they reach their destination.

Now that I look at the numbers though, 1t would carry the weight of 11 or 12 average weighted men.

I still like my stasis pod idea though. :D

Good question - always tought that are transported in life support capsules, as ships don't have an actual Life Support System besides that of the cockpit. No hard data... but i guess its no more than 2 slaves per ton. Those capsules need space and will most probably weigh arround 500kg, human of average weight already included.

this makes perfect sense and thats the way i thought they were.

This is the reason we need passenger transport ships of various makes, sizes and a class system representing the wealth of the passengers being transported ( i.e. the class system that existed in the golden age of ocean liners with First Class being the rich and famous, Second Class being the wealthy middle class, Third Class being economy class effectively for the average joe citizens and finally you would have what I call, Immigrant Class, the class where all the poor Immigrants and slaves are transported). It would add a whole new depth to the game if you could free slaves or enslave the passengers you are transporting.

Technology being what it is, I'm sure one could remove all the blood and so on (that'd save about 12 pounds per slave), squish them flat, and freeze. On the other end, defrost, refill, and send them on their way. I'm going to guess about 15 slaves per slavetube.

Ack - morbid thread...you guys must be Empire lackeys :p I always assumed it was like one guy in an office cubical sealed at the top with plexiglass for transport. Talk about cruel.

Its also possible that it takes 1 ton worth of space in order to accommodate them with enough comfort to want to fly in the hold. This of course goes against the facts that there are racks, but I don't know what they look like or how they actually work. I can assume how a rack would work today, but in the future it could be wildly different.

Do I count the number of sardines when the fishing boat makes its deliveries?

I don't care how many slaves there are, they go by the ton :D You might have some small ones, big ones...eh, it really is all the same once I'm checking my ledger.

Are they sex slaves as originally mentioned!
