How many systems are there presently?

When I bought the game, there weren't 400B systems, the target was for FD to get to 400B systems (listed in FAQ, or in a dev commercial).
So I'm wondering how many are actually in game presently?
BTW, "a lot" is not a number.
Anyone know?
Less than 100K? More?

Define 'In Game'

Do you mean visited systems, or potential systems that have not yet actually been generated?

There are roughly 400 billion systems in the game. A minuscule fraction of this number is inhabited by humans.

All the systems are in the game , all the galaxy is there all of it.
just we have not explored 1% of it yet , but its all there waiting for YOU (well I mean us , there no way one man can see it all)

All of them, go into galaxy map and take a look around, zoom in or out. - You may want to check keybindings for this

You will need an exploration ship though unless you're sticking to human inhabited space.

Out of the 400B, how many are generated/currently visitable?

Thanks.

Apart from those areas that are locked off (they are identifiable by the need for a permit). All systems are accessible if you have the jump range to reach them.

The amount of systems is as said 400B, but actually visited probably just 2 million or so. But hay who really cares

There are some non-visitable systems. Around the rim of the galaxy, stars get sparse. To some systems, even the closest system may be further away then the range of the best FSD. Effectively sealing them from the galaxy.

400b is an arbitrary number. Due to random generated nature of the systems, you can have effectively infinite amount of systems because after each random number, you can find an other random number.

As even a cursory glance at the forums or the galaxy map would give you the answer - "a lot", "all of them", "400 billion stars" <snip>

That was a question on my mind: supposedly there are ~400billion stars in our galaxy. So, does the game have ~400billion stars, or ~400billion systems (in which there will be way more than 400billion stars because some systems have many stars).

However, all dots you see in the galaxy map are visitable if 1) you can get there 2) if you have a permit for the system if it is required. There are at least 5 known regions of space on the far side of the galaxy that, for some reason, you cannot get into. It has been theorized that those regions are set up for future expansion of the game.

Good luck and Happy Hunting!

Simply wondering if FD had reached their goal.
I was also thinking about the server power needed to generate such a number of systems.

Official site says "400 Billion Star Systems" most of them are multiple star systems so I suppose ED galaxy is not our Galaxy.

Its done in instances, nothing generated unless a player enters & activates it. All it needs to store is information on the system such as planet sizes, locations and types which can be done in a database or even a text file.
