How many torpedoes do I need to almost assuredly take out someone's shield generator?

I run with 2 medium torpedo launchers (so in total 4 torpedoes) and it is usually enough. Sometimes 2 hits is enough, sometimes 4 hits is needed. I have never seen any ship survive 4 Reverberating Cascade torpedo hits. Tho i don't know what kind of ship i have attacked with them as we can't see what modules other players or npcs have or if they have modded them for extra/less health etc.

4 Reverberating Cascade hits is enough, getting 4 hits with 4 is other thing. Hitting npc with torpedoes is usually easy and they rarely avoid them, many players don't know how to avoid them or think 1 or 2 point defense will keep them 100% save, but many (pvp) players know how to counter them so some are hard to hit and some are able to avoid all easily.
 
If enemy have prismatic shield 7A-8A and thermal resistance shield so.. it will be around 6-8 torpedos
My shields is 7A prismatics and i have big integrity with secondary effects for shields , so for my shields = 7 torpedo.
 
Wonder if we'll get synthesis for torps?

In PVE 4 will take out a big ship's shields. In PVP? I have no idea.

Torpedo synthesis would be OP as torpedoes are so powerful. With synthesis you would have as much ammo as you want which would totally defeat the point of torpedoes having low ammo count. Torpedo synthesis would be same as having 20 ammo and that would mean they would be OP.

Thermal Resistance increases the Durability of the Shield Generator?!
 
Iv heard 4. I don't use torps but I'm a frequent user of reverb mines. 12-15 will take out the biggest prismatics (much few for smaller/lower class).
