Hello.

Back in March, about 10% of the playerbase were Oculus Rift (DK1) users.
How many do we have today now more and more people got their hands on Oculus Rift DK2? Is there any official numbers anywhere? :)

Do you play Elite using VR?

Me :)

Edit ... Not sure you'll get an accurate answer as most of the rifters are too busy flying around the galaxy and rarely land on this planet anymore! (I had to because the wife came home!)

*Definitely* will be getting a CV1 on release. (Might go for a DK2 soonish if they are going to be mega-delayed).

I can't play elite without my DK2, just doesn't feel right. :)

Same here - I can't imagine playing a space/flight or racing sim on a regular screen ever again - hardly played the game at all in premium beta, now that I have my DK2, I can't keep my hands off it.

Interesting. So a lot of people play with their DK1 & DK2s :)

Ordered mine June 23. So hopefully i get mine sometime next month. Finger cross.

I like the fact that most of you don't want to play the game with out using them.. It will most likely be the same for me.

I have a DK2 and I just couldn't gel with it. I recall it was a PITA to setup and, since I was pretty new I was still learning and reading and stuff - text was hard to focus on and I kept finding new keys I had to learn and find ;)

Have done 2000+mins now with my 3X24" 1600x1200 monitors and it has rocked - have even been tempted to dust off my TrackIR - must now I have a X52 jobbie and VoiceAttack all working it's probably about time I tried the rift again.

I do hope FD make some movement on display support - not just the Rift and better wide screen gaming support (menu positioning etc) but also for ancillary displays too - it would be great to have my 4th display do something useful in game.

I play using DK2, and no doubt it's the best DK2 experience there is right now.
Since I got it I haven't played on monitor at all. That said, I'm not playing very much anyway - just a bit of single player from time to time - because I want to keep the game fresh.

DK1 and DK2 here. Can't play this game without it period!

Was surprised at how fun it is to look around in the galaxy map with it. Oooh, pretty lines going to places! "My god.. Its full of stars!"

DK1 and now DK2. I still can't get over the size of the stations. On a monitor, you really can't grasp how big they are.

Another DK2'er here.
It's wonderful, but I do wish the orange hud theme could be changed to green to take advantage of the greater apparent resolution of green pixels in the DK2 pentile array. It'd be a really quick and easy change that would make text a little more legible.

BTW, for the interested, you can change the hue in the nvidia control panel but that messes up the colours for everything of course.

DK2 owner here.
Play 50/50 monitor, DK2.
Just bought a Lakon 6 and wow, the sense of presence is amasing.
Was sitting for 20 min just studying the detail of the cockpit, FD have
really gone for extreeme details. Such as, when in future upgrade where
we can leave the ships. The pads over the legs have rails with hinges so they
can be folded up and one can get out of the seat lol.
The sense of deept and space is stunning and when going back to monitor again,
you feel you are beeing cheated for 80% of the game experience.
The only reason i do that, is that the Mask can be a bit uncomfortable after
about a hour of play.

It is however importaint to set it up right to get a stutterfree experience.
So read the guides and do also force your main monitor to be same resolution and 75hz as the rift are.
kille the nessesary background tasks and disable aero.
On my system it works flawless. despite not beeing D2R direct to rift mode.

This pentile array that the DK2 uses, does the standard anti-aliasing work with it?

This is good advice... Setting it up correctly can make or break the experience.
I also downsample from 1440 and changed some of the hex settings in the .exe
My experience is truly awesome now! Having seen some other setups though, I would definitely take the time to get it right. :)
