How much bandwidth does elite dangerous use?

Download a free bandwidth monitoring tool and check!

Check out cnet or file hippo sites, there are many sources out there.

It depends on which mode you play in; Solo < Private Groups / Open.

Bear in mind that the game is digitally distributed - the download for Beta 2.1 is c.8.5GB.

CTRL-B in game will show current usage.

In solo or when no other players are around it is very low.

The more players in your instance the more it goes up, mostly downlink. If your client ends up hosting the instance your uplink can get to the level where it may be problematic if you have a poor connection.

Personally i play with in game bandwidth monitor on. I estimate even when you play in open with another commanders around 30-40 MB per hour. I think this is a max value, on solo you will get more like 3-4MB per hour.
Bear in mind this is only my rough opinion to be sure install a bandwidth monitor tool or install one in your router.

Having a lot of friends can adversely effect the bandwidth, especially when they are mode swapping to stack missions.
If I was going on holiday and going to be restricted, I would do a big cull and add them again when I returned.

As mentioned, I'd expect that the initial downloads and subsequent patches/updates consume more than the everyday usage. If your usage cap is tight then it's those you'd need to concern yourself with.

i have a internet cap, so i want to know how much bandwidth does elite dangerous use per hour?

If you are not tied to a contract with your ISP (Provider), then ditch them for one of the many many CHEAP no cap companies out there. Capping internet in today's environment is the very least to be described as 'Primitive'

Very little during game play. You can hit CTRL + B for an in-game bandwidth use report.

As long as you are alone in an instance the network usage is tiny. Additional players will increase this dramatically so if that is an issue then play in Solo or a small PG where you are unlikely to meet others.
