PvP How much better are things than a year ago?

Assuming PvP: a hand full of broken things but other than that fine and balanced.

Broken things include (but are not limited too): Synthing, seekers, healbeams, shieldstacking, did I meantion seekers and packhounds?

Oh and some bugs but these are fresh for example HYS not working correctly once again.

Modest stealth nerf of TLB (now has 5 sec cooldown) is new.

And now a mamba, in case you wanted your clipper and your FDL to breed.

Also phantom if you wanted a weaker MK2 minus SLF & 1L HP, but faster with better jump range. More of a daily driver than a PvP IMO - but TBF haven't mucked around with it much.

In what way is the mamba like the clipper (I wish)? I fly the mamba a lot and just got back into the clipper recently. The clipper handles like a dream. I wish the mamba had that pitch rate. if only the Clipper had a C4 hardpoint on its back <sigh>

Speed and lack of hardpoint convergence.
Other than that, they're two completely different ships :)

Elephant Butt Leather, which was introduced about a year ago, got a 'buff' in this latest update, so now it's more obnoxious than ever.

What's this have to do with PvP? The terrible state of the game caused me to not care enough to renew my PS+ so I could play in Open, so now I'm stuck in Solo, because it just ain't worth it :p

Welcome back, Commander!

Overall, the game has improved, but as to how much, that would depend on your playstyle.

For the average PvE pilot like myself, the revamping of engineers, the materail trader, and the Thargoids and Thargoid Conflict Zones are a significant plus.

Trade is probably the same, not much improvement unless you are a miner. Mining has improved immensely.

PvP has not been improved, although the 5 sec TLB cooldown is good, also night vision is helpful.

CQC has not been improved.

Piracy has not been improved, although the mining commodity improvements have certainly helped. The piracy mechanics, however, are the same.

Exploration... depends on whether you like the new FSS scanner. Most seemingly do so it's probably an improvement. Also the Codex is wonderful.

of course, it's just my opinion.

I disagree that the clipper handles like a dream due to its lat/vert thrusters, which are about the same as a type 9's (not sarcasm). Agree on pitch.

Otherwise Arguendo is correct, it is mostly speed + convergence, (plus they both share poor lat/verts - although Mamba's not as terrible).

The internals, utilities, etc all very different - much more like the FDL, the other ship I compared it to.

Really I was making a veiled reference to a hilarious (IMO) video review of the mamba called "EDSY guide to the Mamba". Feel free to google that phrase for a giggle.

Hey Mongo, welcome back and/or nice to hear from you.

Just wanted to say that. Will let others answer your question - as there are folks who are probably better suited to than myself.

You have to admit the Clipper is pretty nimble for a large pad ship, its almost twitchy. To me the mamba feels like I'm flying a small fast conda.

I love my clipper for collecting HGEs, its supercruise handling and dashboard are glorious.

I fly in combat in a very lat/vert heavy manner, so personally don't like it and consider it sluggish. For pilots who leverage more pitch/roll and less lat/verts, I agree with you. My preference is personal - certainly the clipper can be very effective.

I have never even used my Mamba, aside from some handling tests I ran the day I purchased it in order to decide if I ever wanted to use my Mamba. https://forums.frontier.co.uk/showt...!-MAMBA-!!!!?p=7247550&viewfull=1#post7247550

The fact I don't use the Mamba weakens my assertions regarding it. I simply express my opinion along with some hard stats.

Having official squadrons in game has added a lot to PvP. Lots of squadron wars which is really cool. It also makes it easier to identify friend from foe.
