How much damage can the fsd take?

So I accidentally left for a long distance mission without my repair module! Oops!
Just got my first fsd malfunction at around 80% integrity, whilst neutron scooping. I'm 4000 ly from nearest repair outpost. How much more damage can it take? I'd like to neutron scoop my way there as much as possible.
Thanks.

All the way to 0 - then you can repair it with the reboot.

Due to malfunctions from 80% downwards I would advise you to stop super charging and/or only jump from normal space (to prevent malfunction induced emergency drops that add more damage).

Don't do this again without an AFMU.

Sorry I don't think I explained myself correctly... does there come a point where it fails and doesn't come back online? I really want to keep supercharging, but don't want to get stranded.
:)
And yes I am an idiot!

0% as with any other module.

But you can get it back to 1% with reboot and repair - which will however damage other modules (including the canopy).

Also malfunction frequency will increase with more damage.

randomly fails lower than 80% but you can take it all the way down to 1% it just fails more often, and even then you can re-boot and repair and still use the FSD.

if you're using neutron stars anything below 80% can be dangerous as it can drop you out of SC into the neutron cone :) so be careful

On my last visit to the bubble I meant to put in a repair module but... Well you know how it goes when over-eagerness to get back out into the black after a break from the game goes. So I'm now out on the other side of the galaxy and so far not to much damage luckily. Though there have been some pilots who have been down to bailing wire holding their craft together as they race for a repair shop so you have nothing to worry about as long as you ain't crazy. :)

That reminds me, when I was in the galactic centre, I was still royally scared of neutron stars (I am STILL wary of them even now), having mostly avoided them, so I had planned to do some training on how to escape jet cones from within normal space. Just in case. But I kind of forgot about it.

I need to do that after getting back to the bubble from Xibalba. ;)

80%? Neutron Jumps will no longer be an Option - unless you really want to kill your Ship.

Without an AFMU, the Neutron Highway isn't an Option anyway with the exception of maybe a dozen jumps or so.
Looks like you'll have to perform normal Jumps over those 4000LY to get repaired - and equip the mandatory AFMU to return onto any Neutron Highway.
