How much data does ED use?

Just moved and having to rely on cellular data to get my ED fix.

I appreciate it's going to be somewhat variable, but can anyone give me an inkling as to how much data ED needs in the course of play?

It's actually not that bad if you're in Solo/Private. I've run ED off a mobile link on occasion, and it wasn't using anywhere near enough for me to be worried about data.

10 times more in open.

In solo I used to be able to play for 2-3 days with a gig of data.

Hit CTRL + B and you can see for yourself. Warning, if it goes up you have another CMDR in the area.

For solo gameplay, very little.

I used to tether ED over a 4G connection, with a 2Gb data limit per month, and I never even got close to hitting it.
In fact, using this forum actually used far more data.

PG and Open use considerably more data however.

And of course, the updates are generally massive. You'll probably want to borrow someone's WiFi for those.

Also purge your friends list. That on its own can use more than the rest of the game.

Last session I had, I used a VPN to connect with my friend. It used something like 380mb in 6hrs of play.

It actually does seem like it's fairly reasonable, looks like getting good cell reception will be a bigger issue than data usage.

I would imagine that any Multiplay activity in game would ramp up the Data going back and forth.

Looking @ win 10 Network Usage over the last 30days Elite has used just 405mb

i have visited the aliens & been out in the black so not much contact with other CMDR's
