Hauler is a bit more than 50k
Type 9 about a million
anaconda about 3 million...
For safety you need 30-50% extra cash over the purchase price, personally after all the bad luck i've had i wouldn't buy any ship unless i had double its purchase cost in credits!
My experience in Premium Beta 2 is that its about 2 evenings each in the progression Sidewinder > Cobra > Lakon Type 9 > Anaconda, but this is largely due to fixed high profits for certain trade goods/routes. Similar profits in the final game will probably require greater skill (for those like myself who refuse to use trackers), luck, and willingness to enter unsafe systems.
but if you go this way straight, you will have no idea what to do with the Anaconda once you get there. No idea about fighting or weapon loadouts, strength or weakness of every ship. I would advise to test every ship in combat (maybe sometime someone else is going to use it against you)...else you better stick to the lakon when you get it

I stopped trading altogether once I got to the cobra and am now practicing combat and weapon loadouts.
I'm happy to stop at cobra and see what happens when the beta starts.

Huge thank you to all who replied. I am thinking of buying the Standard Beta and Expansion Pass. I know that the Standard Beta is coming out on 29 July 2014. When is the full game scheduled for release? When will the expansions get released? Don't worry if you don't know the dates. It would be nice to know.

Its all speculation and guess work, frontier wont even know.
Sometime in the future is probably the best guess, but to go out on a limb, I will say October for full release, first expansion, maybe christmas or next year.

We will definitely have a fully functional elite before the end of 2014.
Full game and Expansions will be released when they are ready.
Since Frontier is self-publishing they have no big boss (beyond DBOBE) breathing down their necks saying "Release it now! Ignore the bugs, we can send out first day release patches like everyone else!!"

Cobra is a nice ship, best preperation to Anaconda you could get.
In terms of NPC hunting, Cobra and Eagle are far superior to an Anaconda.
With buying an Anaconda you get...well...a bigger ship. that's it.
Can be taken out easily by an Eagle Pilot who knows what he's doing (if you're not trained in PvP).
A skilled Anaconda Pilot can be taken out by two Siddies when they are working as a wolfpack.
I really liked my 'Conda...but even the Sidewinder has more "Fun Factor".
Strictly speaking you NEED only 10% of the purchase price of your ship plus any weapons or other modules, to be on the safe side. But if you plan to do any trading, you at least want enough left over to buy a full cargo hold of something lucrative.
Probably, since we're missing 20 odd ships, and there will be more small ships in between what we have now.
That's good to know. Thank you ever so much. Do you carry forward the ship, upgrades and credits you got in Alpha or Premium Beta into the Standard Beta and the Full Game or do you have to start from scratch? When flying the ships can you see the ship from a third person outside free view or only first person cockpit view? Can you create or join organisations as in Star Citizen? Is it possible to get credits using Cheat Engine or do you have to get credits through gameplay only?
