how much does fuel cost?

i dont have 75-150 to get into alpha/beta so im not playing yet, but im right there watching a lot of you play. How much does fuel cost? i saw one person go to purchase fuel for their eagle, idk how much fuel it was, but it only cost him 3 credits..

Don't know the exact amount, but it's pretty damn cheap. I don't even think about the fuel costs. Probably only costs me 10-20 credits max per trade run.

Very cheap at the moment.
I expect it will change and price will depend on if there is anything that can be scooped nearby.

thats ridiculous haha, fuel should definitely be costly, hopefully something theyll change when the full release happens just didnt want to hamper their beta testers with fuel costs

Moreover we don't know how 'placeholder' the fuel cost (or ship range, or miles per gallon we get) is yet.

Well in the full release there will be different grades or fuel and fuel scooping and such, so yes, hopefully fuel becomes a proper investment that you have to put thought into.

do you think certain class ships will require higher grade fuel to run properly?

Fuel has never been particularly expensive in any of the previous versions of Elite, I don't know why it would suddenly become so in this one.

As fuel is almost the barest requisite for doing anything in Elite it doesn't make a great deal of sense to make it difficult to obtain apart from forcing people in to gameplay that just adds to unnecessary micro-management (I'm thinking long range exploration and potentially having to have fuel scopes in systems which don't have fuel at stations)

It costs very little although this is "value" bargain basement fuel. IIRR it could get quite expensive to keep a ship running on military fuel in Frontier.

It doesn't really factor in to trading at all, and I think it should, but only a little.

That is true WRT military fuel but that is also because it produced radioactives that had to be disposed of.

There is little point in making it too expensive as there is the alternative of fuel scooping. I think the pricing is probably about right, it shouldn't make flight too expensive as that would defeat the purpose of the game.

It's about 20 credits per ton.
Costs me about 1500CR to go from 10% to 100% in the Anaconda. although i don't remember exactly.
I did work it out but the numbers are on a post-it next to my keyboard.

Not really, we are talking here about commercial usage of spaceship. Without low fuelcost it would be impossible to maintain an empire in a galacticscale.

So it makes sense for fuel to be rather cheap. Otherwise noone would travel not even for trade.
