Newcomer / Intro How much does it cost to have a space station named after you?

Just wondering - with a whole universe out there (I am assuming the game will evolve past the bubble we are now in) and names needed for new space station etc.

How much would it cost?

This would be another income stream for the owners and a nice way for the users to feel "part of the game".

Just thinking out loud...

There's only one member of the community I know of that has a station named after him - Obsidian Ant. And he didn't buy it but deserved it. :)

I remember this being on plate during betas, but ultimately Frontier decided against it.

Another option is to become famous and important person in physics or sci-fi genre and maybe they will name station after you. For example right now my temporary base of operations is situated in the orbit of planet Vulcan in LHS 3006, at the Leonard Nimoy Station - beautiful garden station.

Be someone famous like Lenoard Nimoy (Spock) near Planet Vulcan next to Wryd for The Dweller.
I've even seen pornstars be names Jameson Memorial, Guest Station, Sharon Lee Market ;)

During the kickstarter, it was possible to name a space station for £ 500. If Frontier sells this possibility in the store later, I'm not sure that the price would be too high

With the kickstarter and the different levels of reward (from £ 500 to £ 5000) there are a few dozen people who have named the space stations

It's just easier to pick a station with a name you like and legally change YOUR name! XD

Must have shelled out quite a bit then because George Pantazis is a whole solar system! :)

However the family money must have run out after a second system called Michael Pantazis because poor Anna Marie only got a station "The Anna Marie Pantazis" - [alien]

Thank you to all who have replied to this thread - I appreciate it.

It is good to find out some of the "history" behind how we got to where we are today with Station naming. I like obsidian ant's YouTube video's so it is good to see he has been recognised.

As I said I was more thinking out loud - as I thought it might be an interesting concept.....

Also, for some of the older more experienced players perhaps long term they might want to think of a competition they could run to have a station named after themselves perhaps... as I said more thinking out loud...

But, once again thank you to all for sharing your thoughts I appreciate it

We were also just kind of thinking out loud.

But you are right in one think. Frontier should come up with more "merchandise" for us. I mean I'd love to support them more, but there are only so many paintjobs.
