I have seen posts (especially right before official launch) stating how much the game is not finished, even to a large degree. I would love to hear from FDEV exactly how much of the game is not complete (if it is in face so), or how much more is "yet to come". Is there any type of schedule or place to go see exactly what is supposed to transpire? Has FDEV actually come out and said how much of the game is not complete, or are most people here guessing and speculating on the future? I wonder if the game really will look any different say a year from now. The word "hyperbole" comes to mind when I read some of these posts by the player base, yet I have nowhere I know of that I can turn to for substantiated information.

As an MMO or online game its pretty obvious it will change, be updated and have new content added. I suspect this game will be very different in a year or two. Just look at World of Warcraft compared to what it was many years ago. All online games need updates to keep going.
There's a coop/Wingman update due in the next month adding more things to do with friends and team mates. Eventually we're going to have thargoids, landing on planets and much more to do with friends. It would be nice to have a road map but I don't think FD like committing to anything. All I can advise you to do is watch interviews with David Braben and read news letters.

Considering they built the whole thing in two years, I expect to see many changes even in the first year
Don't think we will see the first 'paid' DLC until the end of the year but there are a lot of things that have been mentioned that will be added as normal updates
I would expect fleshing out of existing mechanics such as mining, wings added, Ship module storage and more ships.
Hoping for salvaging, trade computer short term data storage, ship delivery transport and passenger travel
