45 seconds per system.

That's the minimum amount of time it takes to charge the FSD and jump to the next system manually. It's a very reasonable amount of time.

How many systems? Total distance divided by the transferred ship's FSD range, naturally.

How expensive? 0,0005% ship cost per system jumped.

Two typical examples:

Cobra Mk III - 15M ship with 25ly FSD transferred over 100 LY -> Cost = 30,000 cr, Time = 3 minutes.
Python - 150M ship with 20ly FSD over 100 LY -> Cost = 375,000 cr, Time = 3,75 minutes.

Low-FSD fighter transferred over the bubble:

Eagle - 5M ship with 15LY FSD transferred over 300 LY -> Cost = 50,000 cr, Time = 15 minutes.

Kitted-out Anaconda transferred to Jacques Station:

Anaconda - 1B ship with 50ly FSD over 22,000 LY -> Cost = 220,000,000 cr, Time = 5,5 hours.

I think these results are balanced, reasonable and won't break the immersion for 75% of the player base (judging by the polls on the forum).

I expect lock soon. Price wise I would say I disagree. Your calculation for time is fine for me but as a pilot I would not care if flying an asp or a t9 the expense on some ships would be naturally higher anyway due to lower jump range

Any "realistic" delay would be better than none, in my opinion, so sure, get a +1 from me, but for game and ship balancing reasons this should likely be fine tuned by Frontier. At this point I'd take whatever I can get, but plan on avoiding the ship transfer feature as best as I can as well as not using it myself. If some players want to cheat and Frontier is fine with it, then have at it. I'll just go hide in the corner and play with my own toys. :p

I seriously think it doesn't matter at this point. I'd place a bet that the players wanting instant are in the minority, don't want any perceived compromises, and have FD on their side. I say on their side because FD isn't going to drop instant transfer, they might tweak it a bit but they won't replace it. The minority has no reason to compromise now.

Sadly, I think this decision snips possible gameplay additions that could develop from believable ship transport methods.

I'll probably do the same for awhile but I'll really have to take a long hard look at season 3. If FD keeps making QoL additions like this one I'll probably leave.

I almost did leave, I wiped my save on my PC and my Xbox. I deleted the game from the Xbox and the PC and then reset the PC so I could sell it, it's a decent purpose built gaming PC but ED is all I play on it.

I changed my mind so I could watch this upcoming release and see where it headed. Heck, I paid for the season, not time to dump it yet.
