How often do you come across real players?

Just asking as Ive had the game a week now - and put a lot of hours in, yet I dont think Ive come up against a single real player - at least I havent seen a single hollow icon on my radar that Im aware of.

I get that space is BIG, so not that surprised - but I did think Id have found some, particular in the starting space. Is it a case of having to go to specific places (be it high profit places, certain combat zones etc)? At present Im just wandering from system to system where ever missions take me to build up credits.

Is the Elite universe platform specific (Like FIFA) or do all platforms share the same game space?

Not a big problem really (at least not yet - Im engrossed as it is), but I had thought playing open play Id have seen at least on real player contact in the many hours Ive put in.

Depends where you are. I've not done a CG yet but everyone here says they're pretty busy. Engineers' systems will usually clock up a few. I had six once at Farseer Inc. Don't get excited though: out of about two dozen o7, I've had one back! It seems that pleasantness and manners rarely survive in an absolute vacuum.
Saying that, it's only fair to mention that all the griefing etc the PC people go on about seems like utter hysteria; maybe we PS4 players are civilised but not polite!

Hardly a day goes by where I don't see a load of Commanders... (exceptions being when I'm out in the black of course - then it's rare)

seems like you didnt find the real hotspots by now

go wu guinagi, dozens of players there atm

and yes mostly no answer to o7, but keep in mind that you have to pay attention to chat frame to become aware off a greeting and this is usually not the spot you look at while in station, most ppl there are on services page and cant see your chat
i installed EDDiscovery on my musicPC, disabled all voice events except messages from cmdrs
never missed a greeting since!

Thats what I expected - and in truth there are times where combat against real people - just like playing sports sims against real opponents - is where the fun is....

It certainly is for a lot of us, but be forewarned... it's a steep climb involving lots of engineering and practice. I think it's worth it despite all that, but it's there. You can have the best, a rated combat fit possible and it won't mean squat if you don't have it well engineered and for that there is quite the grind. After that's accomplished, then it gets started when you practice and learn the necessary skills. There's lots of links, tools and people to help along the way though, if you're interested.

I rarely see people in this game unless I go to rank grind spots, money grind spots (which will be dying soon) or Community Goals. Sol sometimes nets you one commander but rarely surprisingly.

I tend to see rl players at the engineer bases and in Sol. Seen a few here at Dav's Hope too.

Quite a few at Farseer inc. & of course lots of friendly fellow CMDR's in Quince happy to test out the shields & hull integrity of your SRV for free. Such nice lads.

I seem them quite often now that I am back in the bubble. Last night was helping a friend in LHS 3447 and was one docking at the station. I seem them fly past, usually receive an "o7" and I respond with one as well.

Last night I was searching for an Unknown Probe in the Pleiades and came across someone who had one but not an Unknown Artefact, which I had. Super nice guy, totally random encounter but I get these at least once a week although I tend to see hollow squares every day, just don't always have an 'encounter'.

Ran into about 40 players chasing npcs and took advantage of the new cg since it's the empire hq system killing off 2 players that had a warrant. 1 of them ran away after interdiction. Was pretty drunk and out of all ships I was flying a aspx which is not my preferred ship to combat in.

Last night, whilst at Dav's Hope, another SRV appeared on the scene. I targeted it, as you do, just to scan and see who it was. I then depressed the accelerator to continue my search for stuff, but instead depressed the trigger, causing one shot to hit the SRV. The guy must have got frightened off as he logged out. I felt really guilty as it was an accident, so I used the player history list in my comms UI to find out who it was, and I sent him a PS4 PM to apologise. He was gracious enough to accept my apology.

Keep an eye on your scope. A hollow yellow rectangle is a RL player, a block rectangle is an NPC.
Same with hard points deployed; hollow triangle for hoomin, solid for NPC.

Triangle means they're not on the same plane as you. Rectangle means they are. So key an eye out for hollow triangles or rectangles for real people.
