How old do you have to be to play Elite?

My son (8) won a bet against me recently.
He said, "betcha I can beat that dangerous NPC Anaconda." I was amused, given that my FDL has a fixed weapons load (huge beam, efficient lvl 5, three efficient 5 plasma accelerators (plasma slug), and one MC w. corrosive (and extended magazine), and fixed weps aren't that easy to use, certainly not for somebody who hasn't spent more than a couple of hours playing that game (heck, I've played over a thousand, and I'm still on a learning curve!). So, I said, "betcha twenty Euros you can't."
The smile on his face when he pocketed the bill . . . priceless. [yesnod]
