How rare are Earth like worlds?

Hard to put a figure on it, but for me on an average I might see one every 4-5hrs of exploring. Might see 10-20 Water Worlds before getting one. Saying that, it seems to be a little area specific. By this I mean some areas seem to have more than others, and some sectors seem to be completely absent of them. Last week I came across 3 in a matter of an hour or so, but that is the exception from my experience.

I might have found 10-15 in about 1500 systems visited this trip.

What seems to be rarer for me is the Water Giants, I have only just found one after 1800 systems visited!

Keep hunting! You will find them!

I'm currently at 38 in 5000, or 1 in 130 roughly.
It depends on where you are, I haven't found one in 4 days now. One day I found 3 in a couple of hours.

Are there particular stars that you would most find them around?

I think the K & F type stars from memory is where I have mainly seen them. Might not be strictly those tho, but might be a start.

Generally I see them 1k ls from the star or more (in the golden zone or whatever you call it), but this will vary depending on the size/temp of the star.

I would think it depends on how you explore, it's down to luck. If you explore by aiming for a way point & then using the fastest route planning then the chances of finding one would be a lot lower than if you used economy route planning & visited every system on the way.
I use the former & dont go out of my way to look for them. On my last trip i found 1 earthlike from about 850 systems visited. Unless i specifically go on a hunting trip then i wouldnt expect to find all that many.
Now water worlds i see a lot of on my trips

I scanned 1400 systems, found 4 earth-likes. One of them was around a carbon star, which is extremely rare. I'll post the details with screenshots in the Earth-Likes thread when I get back from work.

I've flown in excess of 60k LY (Sgr A* and back with oooh-what-have-we-got-here detours). Stumbled upon 2 Earth-likes. Mind you, I got a heap of water worlds.

It is purely random, but my statistics are currently 12 in 2400 systems scanned, so 1 in 200, or 0.5% of all systems.

by my reckoning of all the ones I have found it is about 1:250 to 1:500 depedning where you are. F,B,G and K. Never found one round an M.

As far as I can tell the chances of finding a ELW are in inverse proportion to how hard your looking for them.

On my trip out to Sag A I found 2. Looking hard in every system on route.

Now I'm trying to get back as fast as I can. I'm only looking at the system map every 3 or 4 jumps. And so far I've found 5 or 6 more.....

Aint that the truth. I dont bother looking for them, if I find them all well and good, but dont get hung up if you dont find them.

I've tried looking. And I've tried not looking, so I've given up. Water Worlds are a dime a dozen and always hurt when I realise they're not my first Earth like.

I've spent months out there, I was a pathfinder, but should be Elite by the time this latest mission is done. And I've never found an Earthlike. And that's fantastic, makes that first one all the more special.

3 in around 3500 systems for me. Though I have found lots of waterworlds and terraformable ones. The area I am currently wandering appears filled with gas giants more than anything.

I only find ice planets!! I must say i do find exploring surprisingly addictive especially when you stumble across higher valued stuff!
