How safe is SIG*A in Open Play right now

I'm few hundreds LY away, crawling towards SIGA, but heard some stories about jerks in Open Play just sitting there and making trouble to other travellers....
How true is that ? And what is situation right now?

I think no one can confirm that atm, but If it turns out that theres really some pirates, just jump to some adjacent system, go to solo and continue exploring.

It has a tendency to attract idiots looking to kill explorers unfortunately. I think with the media attention distant worlds has generated it will probably attract even more.
I hope I am wrong. Always play safe in open especially as an explorer.
Happy trails and good luck on your travels.

All right, looks like no one here... pretty quite and lonely, after visiting close to 2000 systems I finally here.... long way home now :)

Glad it was safe. I suspect the Trolling at Srg A is old now and they are off hasseling somewhere else.

I'll be there is a couple of weeks, so hope it's clear when I get there. Although I forgot to sell my guns before leaving the last station.

Have a safe run on the way back, enjoy the sights.

Was really surprised when on approach to SigA, 100-30 LY majority of the systems were not discovered, I though by this time Everything withing 1000LY around SIGA will be discovered :)

Me too. I found a system with 6 water worlds in it just over 60LY away from SagA

Have you seen how dense that area is? Have you any idea how many systems will be within 1000LY of Sag A*? It will be a very big number indeed.

Of course I understand... just had different expectations :)
Laying the route takes forever in that area :(

I found that if I plotted between 185 and 195 light years at a time, it plotted instantly but anything above or below took ages. I would be watching the little spinning animation at a star 197Ly away and then switch to one 194.6 LY away and got an instant plot. I think there may be a sweet spot though because the limits changed by a few light years depending on how close I was to SagA

There is apparently (I've never gone to the core, I like the rim) a sweet spot that is dependent on your jump range.

I just left. No one was there. I got nervous before hand... shields up coming inbound. Quickly realized it was safe and dropped the shields to get a close up.

I would just take normal precautions.

Shields up, if you have them. Plot a course through sag A and out the other side so if on entry there are hollow dots you can jump out immediately.

Remember if you get interdicted you can high wake (jump to another system) without being mass locked.

Could you explain further please as I am not sure I have been able to do that ...

If you try and go back to super cruise in the same system you can be mass locked - i.e. the other ship can stop you jumping back to super cruise and safety. If you select another system they can't mass lock you and you can jump straight after the cool down.

Also submit to interdiction immediately for a quicker cool down.

Thank you; I hope I don't need it on this exploring trip, but I will give it a try when I get back to the bubble.
+1 rep - may save my bacon!
