Elite / Frontier How should Elite4 be promoted?

So I was sitting in the cinema and waiting for the film...

Suddenly:

The return of the BitMapBrothers...

I thought: 'Wait a moment !!!!"

WOW!

They are back!

Look at this freak'n Ice Cream:

So dear Dave,

you gents from the Elite-team:

THIS IS HOW WE WANT IT!

A trailer!

The big one!

At the theaters around the world!!!

Perhaps a short film?

Some series made for Youtube????

You have the money for that?

I have some ideas!

Go for it!

"ICE CREAM!

PS: Perhaps you can get Ben Daglish, Chris Hülsbeck, David Whittacker, Rob Hubbard, Martin Galway and Thomas Detert as a "Composer Dream Team" for Elite4.

I guess they would do it "pro bono" - and you could sell some 10 million copies more...

Just look at the fanclubs around the world and the youtubers...

PRESS PLAY ON TAPE!

Foof - early days to be spending money on advertising a game that has only begun dev. To be fair I'm not so sure it'll need masses of advertising, it's got such a strong history behind it that it'll be huge regardless.

I don't think that it'll be a hard one to sell.

Don't underestimate the power of the dark site, Luke!

Well, I don't know...
You don't have to own a Havard MBA on marketing to realize that some nice theatrical trailers and a youtube mini-series around the Elite Universe could double your income - or even make it 10 times bigger.

You even won't have to create the story: just make it an "official event" for the fans...there are defenetly enough guys out there who earned their elite rank back in 1994 or earlier and who are now some ceo's at IT-firms or film studios to do that.

I know: Elite is a legend - perhaps the biggest game legend who hasn't come back yet...

But look at Speedball2: They are also ranking at the all time hall of fame in computer games (just not at the same level as Elite) - but they made their comeback BIG.

They even called that game Speedball2 - although it should be named Speedball3.

It is all about the story, the dreams, the good old times.

But BIGGER, BETTER, FASTER.

So the developers said: "Just do it!- but let's make our comeback BIG!"

They could have saved all that promotion money as well...

And by the way: We are talking about a completely new generation of gamers.

How many of them do know Elite?

It is the game of their fathers...

So: Pull out some money for the trailers.

If you need money, call a Private Equity LTD. for an "Elite-4 Investment Fonds"

You should get that placed in the markets - the story is too good.

I repeat: MAKE IT BIG!

This should get the best selling game of all time.

You only have ONE chance to come back.

And remember "Episode I".

Better forget that, I mean....

OK?

:)

I think you have the wrong end of the stick. You have to have a game to make a trailer.

I'm not sure I understand the point of making a trailer for a game that doesn't exist - Frontier has been fairly careful to not make any promises or create a false sense of a time scale for Elite 4 to be released so surely it would be a fairly pointless endeavor to make a trailer for it.

"ELITE 4 - coming no time soon"...

I get it now:

we are talking from different angles.

Of cause we need the game FIRST and the promotion after the beta-version is out.

I was thinking and dreaming anyway...

Some well done films liek animatrix for youtube would be fine though.

And those could be done now.

Anyone?
