How should I deal with loss of Rep?

So, I have a relatively full life, and will probably only be able to play elite on weekends.

How are other commanders in similar situations doing coping with rep decay? Do you feel like it is a lot of trouble keeping up with staying allied? Or am I worried about nothing?

I've only ever managed allied with one faction before, so I'm not sure how hard it will be to maintain yet.

Are you taking System Faction rep, or PowerPlay?

PowerPlay - I ignore rep completely. I just take my $1000 weekly salary and use it for bullets.

System Faction Rep - not aware that decays? When mine goes down due to my own actions, I just donate $1200 to a "Help Repair Our Station" Mission Beggar and knock the rep back up a notch.

It seems to decay very slowly. Last week my Alliance rep dropped to friendly so I flew to an Alliance station and donated 6000cr.

Now it's back to Allied and been that way for 6-7 days.

Personally, I have adjusted my expectations to strive for Friendly across the board, instead of Allied now. I understand why there is decay but I don't get too interested in working my way up, and then up again, and then up again each time I move around or log back in after some time away.

I'm not worried though
