How strong is exploration data in an election?

I’m trying to flip a system at the edge of the bubble, non-power play, but it does have a lot of explorers returning from the Pleiades passing through. I assume a lot of these players are dumping exploration data.

The system state is election but my faction doesn’t control any assets that will allow me to dump exploration data so I can only do data missions. I seem to not be able to get ahead. I seriously doubt anyone is actively opposing me, but even doing 15 data missions I keep sliding behind. Is exploration data more powerful than missions?

No one can tell for sure. Missions have allegedly been nerfed some updates ago. That makes it harder for MFs without any asset to win an election, as exploration data drops and commodity trading are only helping the controller.

That probably explains things. Traffic report shows 15 ships, mostly Asps/DBXs. I occasionally see an asp or krait in the station.

Are there any alternatives to data missions that give 4 or 5 inf+ ?
Data courier missions are often only 2 inf each.

Find a black market run by the controlling faction. Now smuggle in full loads of various goods banned in the system.. like landmines, narcotics, onion gamma, toxic waste, etc.
Selling stolen goods too. Pirated or looted - all will lower the controlling factions influence dramatically

And if you bring in a large amount, like 600 or 700 tons in one load, sell it in increments of 150 tons or so. Apparently several smaller transactions means more influence movement than one large transaction...

Unfortunately the faction has no black markets. Seems I’m at an extreme disadvantage out of the gate.

There are some cargo missions that are +++++ but I can only take 1-3 at a time.
What about passenger missions?
Forget the sight seeing missions, they take too long. It's the transport someone to a nearby system type mission you're looking for.
It's unusual to be stuck with only data courier missions.
So you could take as many data courier missions as you can get, plus any cargo or passengers missions. This is the situation where the Anaconda or Python if medium pad access is needed shines. Loads of internal slots to be able to do a load of different things at once.

Are you alone in this venture?

Ohh... ferrying criminals about....very lucrative.. but can go south if scanned !
But if you never get scanned...ever ! Not even an interdiction scan cos those count too, you'll be fine.
Finally there's always old faithful.
Wacking feds n cops.
That defo works.
Does have its downsides though. Just keep it all focused on one hull/ship which you can later scrap (keep n clean modules) the hull, Or pay bounty and good To go once notorious has worn off.
Park carrier in unoccupied region if latter option is taken.
The bounty? Oh yes...can be considerable..1.6 bill my last one

Occasionally I might get illegal passengers doing this, but it was never intentional officer ....

No. You have to sell it at a station controlled by the faction you want to boost influence for. This is an old thread. I don't know how much exploration data helps an election, but I do know selling 20 million in exploration data has not even half the effect selling 20 million in bounty vouchers issue by the faction has when sold at a station controlled by that faction.
Exploration data is weak at boosting the economy and influence of a faction, but it's not nothing and worth spreading your exploration data sales around a few systems controlled by the faction you want to support in lots of 15 to 20 million.
Missions, bounty vouchers and profitable trade are all better at boosting influence.

That's interesting, I have other infos about selling at carriers parked in particular systems. And it is pretty new info too.

It depends what you're selling.

Bounty vouchers sold to carriers are labelled influence and work normally (though with a slight discount to their effect on a fleet carrier because of the carrier cut)

Exploration data is unlabelled influence so always helps the station owner - which in the case of a fleet or stronghold carrier is a non-influence faction.

It was statement of someone that Exploration Data, selling on carrier affects BGS in the system. I am trying to find confirmation or opposite arguments for that.

Trivial to test yourself if you have a carrier - move it to some fringe system which gets no traffic, sell a small amount of data to it and do no other action, see if anything changed the next day. Maybe do a few systems if you have time just in case someone else decides that's the day to visit them.
