Newcomer / Intro How the heck do I pay off my fine?

Is paying fines different into EDO than Horizons???

So... I got a 200 Cr fine, giving me wanted status.

  • I went to closest Interstellar Factors, they recognized no fines for me to pay.
  • I went to my Fleet Carrier with a redemption office. No fines to pay.
  • I went to another system's Interstellar Factors, No fines to pay.
  • I restarted the game and checked again. Interstellar Factors says no fines to pay.

But if I go to local government it says I have a bounty and can turn myself in they will transport me to a detention center. What the What? I just want to pay my 200Cr fine.
In Horizons I would visit Interstellar Factors and resolve all fines. I googled ED wanted status, that's what it says.

If you have the option load into Horizons and pay it off at an IF there. I do not have EDO, but yes I have heard there is a slight change. Something about the faction that issued the fine/bounty and whether or not you need to travel to an IF from a different faction, but I cannot remember the exact details. I think going back to Horizons works fine from what previous threads about this issue said.

edited: 3.8 Horizons, since EDH 4.0 is Ody Lite.

Oh... and the station System Services says... go to Interstellar Factors to pay my fines.

But Interstellar Factors does not recognize I have any fines.

Ouch, no more EDH 3.8. Traveling further away, to a different faction owned system/station I think works as well. I guess it depends how far you have to travel for another IF vs how far away jail is... good luck.

Follow up...

Okay that was awful. Turned myself in. I was at the CG in a short-range no-fuel-scoop ship and I am beamed back to the bubble.

That's just awesome /s. On top of that, the butt-heads that programmed this used the same screens for when your ship is destroyed... so the verbage makes no sense at all. It is as if my ship blew up and I have to "redepoloy" it (but no insurance cost). Some things are crappy, but this is ridiculously dumb.

Edit: I wasn't beamed back to the bubble. Just 4 jumps away, so not so bad. Still a bizarre experience for a 200Cr fine. The ingame visual presentation of the C&P system is very bad and makes very little sense.

As I understand it the Interstellar Factors in Odyssey will only deal with your fines or bounties if the faction that issued them has no presence in that system, that would of course apply to your Fleet Carrier as well.

A possible future solution for those that consider getting a fine or bounty likely would be to park the Fleet Carrier in a nearby system with no stations so no factions present.

When the IF failed to recognise that I have fines, I usually have to re-log. Then magically they suddenly recognise the fines are there.
