How the "race" for CG modules ruins my fun of playing ED.

This is not going to be a pure rant. Why?

Because I'm aware that these modules are picked up by the community, and many are wanting to use them.

But not me.

Since the Colonia Bridge initiative, I've played two phases (first and second).

I've done the first one relatively easily, within my own pace. Got the module, since I was in Top 50%. Tried to do the same on the second approach. Never had the chance, because everybody thown themselves into that CG like US folks for Black Friday offers (for example), leaving me without any chance to get it, and ruining my mental health, thus I've decided to skip all the next ones, for sake of my health.

I just really hope that these modules would be available, within max 3 years or so. I'm patient. I can work with traditional one-engineered FSD. But I can't withstand the possiblity of further ruining the "balance" in this game by these double pre-engineered modules. Already in AX, the Gauss Cannon (especially pre-eng one) is the obvious, fully optimal solution for it. For Exploration? Anaconda (in less optimal manner also ASP-X, but fortunately Krait Phantom came, which I'm using to this day with won FSD from first phase mentioned before). Combat? Lasers & Multi-cannons for generalist use, PA's and Rails for PvP.

Doh...
Regardless, I'm now at Guardian sites, flying around, and shooting Sentinels in T7 Transporter (pretty much fun, gonna say), so I'll probably would not get back (in time) to participate.

Take care, and have "fun" in that CG series. o7

The Anaconda is far from being the optimal solution for Exploration: its advantage is the longest jump range, and jumping far does not equate exploration, only fast travel and extreme distances.

As you state at the end of your post, you are having fun with the Type-7. Now, that's an excellent exploration ship! I value it more than the Asp Explorer or the Krait Phantom (after having used them both extensively).
Explore more the potential of the T7! You have already access to the double engineered 5A FSD for it.

Obviously, different strokes etc., but do not underestimate the power of what you already have at your disposal!

Seriously. Don't do stuff that damages your mental health.

I wasn't playing at the time of the 1st bridge CG. For the second I got in at the start, did a few local T-9 loads and got up to 10k. That was enough for top 50%. I spent the rest of the week doing other stuff.

A double engied module is not the be-all end-all. People play just fine without them. Hell, I haven't even picked mine up from Alcor yet.

I didn't rush for the CG modules as well... but not because I had no time, or for the grind etc. but because of coherence.

Ultimately, I belong to Delaine... and for nothing I'd support enemies for their goals.

From a gameplay perspective, locking modules behind CGs and not putting them available to tech brokers is just bad game/unfair design.

Didn't wanna trouble myself to get the new class 4 and 6 FSDs... more than happy to wait for them to be available at a TechBroker.

With the filler Tier 6 they had last time I think they might have noticed it is important that CGs with module rewards do not end prematurely.

I wish it was a more clear thing that every module reward will eventually get into tech brokers. At that point I don't really care how long it takes, at least knowing it will happen is enough for me.

I dont care if someone else got a module that i'm unable to obtain. It was my decision not to participate in the respective CG and it's good to have unique things in the game, to give a sense of rarity and individuality. Not all condas will get to jump +85ly, some will do and it's due to its commanders efforts back then.

It may sound crazy but i miss the CG's point defense given some time ago, but it's okay, i still can have a lot of fun with standard ones. I wish i could have a Cobra MK IV, but it's okay, i got a III and it's very good too. I dont need to be the best there is, or to have the best there is to have fun, believing in that is very bad for mental health.

The problem with CG's for me is not the reward but the lack of creativity. Cargo hauling is an activity but not everyone is into it, Fdev try to be democratic sometimes splitting the CGs among the different main activities but it's just more of the same.

I dont see any problems in giving the previous CG modules in tech brokers. TB could actually allow double engineering in specific cases, but we'd go into the whole galaxy of improvements the game could have and Fdev just doesn't care about it.

Yeah... with tech brokers doing the whole "price for a single entity" thing for other such items, this seems fine.

I agree unique modules which are better than others you can get in game would be rubbish but (and correct me if I am wrong) all these modules are / will be soon earnable in game via brokers and these are just "freebie" bonus rewards.
as for ruining your mental health.... I really hope you are being a little overly dramatic. if you are not then I worry for you because most games now use Such (arguably underhanded) mechanisms to encourage forced play in a certain way, and many do it far worse than Elite.

if what you really mean is it spoils the game for you as it makes you feel compelled to play the game in a specific way and not how you enjoy it... then I agree. achievements did a similar thing for me years ago and I had to make a conscious effort to ignore them.... even now I do feel compelled to spoil some games using guides etc to make sure i do not miss unique gear or miss the "good" outcomes in games. To a point games can be designed to avoid this but ultimately there comes a time when you (not the literal you, I include myself here) have to either just do it and spoil a game or just play the game for enjoyment and accept we may not get the best outcomes all the time. the latter seems obvious but I genuinely find it difficult.

There's actually no guarantee or certainty around that.

Only a somewhat random subset are available to-date. Whether or not all become available (and when) remains to be seen.

Tangentially, rewind to when modules like this weren't in the game at all, I wasn't exactly sitting there thinking "Man, here's all this stuff I could do which I can't currently, if I had a double-engineered module!"... they're entirely unnecessary to doing anything really.

Why would you play a game that affects your mental health? This is simply ridiculous. Go get professional help for crying out loud. You clearly need it.

Dumb question: what is double engineered module? I havent seen a living soul for a while and I dont read Galnet...
Open any tech broker on any station with a tech broker..
Fdev is trying to use the term augmented items or Pre engineered not double engineered now as the Item can no longer follow past engineered settings now...
Pre-Engineered items... that were gifts and some purchased with mats from tech broker...

The Elite Wiki says: "The Type-7 is a viable exploration ship, with some caveats. With ranges around 30 LY, the ship is very capable of long range jumps and can be very good at long range deliveries or Rare Commodities trading. Unfortunately, the Type-7 struggles to control its heat. It is possible to overheat while fuel-scooping or simply charging the Frame Shift Drive to jump to the next system on a route. Heat can be mitigated by installing an A-rated Power Plant and multiple Heatsink Launchers."

Sounds like a bit of a lumbering brick to me.

Fine, don't use it.

I love it.
