How to avoid being scanned at Outposts during Smuggling Missions

Does anyone have a good strategy to avoid getting scanned when delivering goods to an Outpost during the missions where you are not allowed to get scanned.

I've had some good success on these missions, but I've seen a few times when I am just landing at an outpost, and I suddenly get scanned and fail all my missions.

Often there are no other ships around at an outpost, but occasionally there are a few.

If you slow down to land, they seem to catch you out every time.

My guess is, that if you are approaching an outpost with illegal goods, if you see another ship around, you just need to boost away and jump away and try again after a minute or two?

(and yes I was already using silent running, chaff, heatsinks etc).

If I drop out of SC at the outpost and there is an extra blip anywhere on the radar between me and the outpost, I turn and burn immediately. Jumping to another system and approaching again is the only fix I have found.

Silent running/heat sinks/chaff are all quite useless against NCP's. If there are security services on your scanner, it's either the fed that's been chasing you, in which case see 1), or you are probably at a military outpost, see 2).

1) Fed drops in at any kind of space station, one sure fire method is just to run. If you can outrun it to 7.5km, then it will high wake out.

2) Military Outposts often have several security vessels on patrol. Line your slot up from a distance, then go in fast, keeping an eye on the scanner. Enter the hangar immediately!

See any other ships, put them on your 6 and see what/who they are. If the security is about then, jump out and come back. Check coms: before drop, if you have had a message, from the cops; they WILL be waiting. The rest is down to speed: The longer you are about, the more likely they are too turn up.

The pixels, know everything, but at the same time, the game is still winnable.

I fly a Cobra MkIII, heatsinks on each hard point.

As soon as I being the SC drop, I kill throttle and right when I'm out of super cruise, I hit silent running.

I point at the station, it's usually 8-10 km away. Then FA off and a single boost, and an immediate heat sink. I just drift in.

As soon as I'm within 7.5 then request docking. If my temp hits 20 then I heatsink again.

Just drift in and land. I've never been scanned.

I do the same for stations.

Good luck!

as soon as i dropped from orbital flight, security dude dropped out of nowhere with me 15 km away from station and just scanned....like     is this...out of nowhere pops in ur face and scans.....this is unavoidable bull     every         time .....waste of hours of smuggling. I understand security being close at stations and scanning, but here its just like it was traveling with u all this time in a wing......drops from cruise with you and BAM     you do then ???? :D stupidly coded npcs thats all. I never encounter such crazy insane eager to scan by npcs when not hauling anything

you get scanned when security drops from SC with you within 200m and scans.... no matter how far you are off the station... this is almost a random generated thing - if you smuggle you will have an npc security spawning close to you no matter where you at. its just an auto fail.

Use a Cobra mark III. Boost Boost Boost away until the Ship is not on your radar anymore. Wait for 30 seconds go back to station. NPC will propably have jumped out.
I once got scanned by one NPC and attacked by another one as I tried to silent run into a station. Took me three tries until I could enter non attacked non scanned. Most fun I ever had on a smuggling mission.

The first thing is whether the cops are already on to you. If you've already been interdicted, but ran away, they'll still be after you unless a pirate started shooting you while you were running, in which case the Feds normally stay to deal with him. Also, if there was any red writing on your comms after your last interdiction, they will still be after you. In both those cases, a Fed will appear soon after you drop out at the station. The only ways you can get rid of them are: Kill them; beat them in the mini game; when a pirate joins him and starts shooting you. In the third case, if you're interdicted away from the station and a pirate message was on your comms, or the other way round, it's worth continuing to run without jumping back into super cruise to give a chance of the second or third ship joining in and the pirate shooting you, which will stop all of them following you. I always have "report crimes against me" turned on to facilitate this method of getting rid of a pirate and Fed at the same time.

Apart from those, it's not very common for a Fed to appear after you dropped out at the outpost. The only other time you'll see them is at a military outpost, which will have three or more circulating. If you see that, deliver all the other missions first, then come back because the risk of being scanned is higher. Again, pirates can be your best friend. If there's one chasing you, all you have to do is get into the no-fire zone. If he shoots you there, all the Feds will come and attack him, leaving it clear for you to go to the landing pad. Without pirates, you have to use stealth, i.e. silent running, and try and land as quickly as possible. i have 6 successes and two failures like that. A couple of other times, I wasn't concentrating, so I didn't notice the circulating Feds until too late, but I was able to land and get into the hanger without being scanned and without using any special measures. I was probably just lucky.

It's quite common for other ships to drop out at the outpost just after you. Check to make sure they're not Feds, otherwise, pirates or not, they won't be a problem once you get into the no-fire zone, though one time, a couple of pirates were shooting me all the way to the landing pad. At the last moment, with only 50% hull, I decided to run away. when I came back, they were gone.
