How to avoid hyperdictions?

Hello,

Today, in the galaxy map I set:
  • Civilisation to human only
1696128142465.png

  • State to no thargoids
1696128179930.png

Result: I've been hyperdicted by an interceptor!

Source system: pleiades sector hc-l b8-1

Target system: pleiades sector pi-t c3-7

What am I doing wrong with the galaxy map filters please?

Thank you.
Best regards.

The "Nebula" Thargoids are different(code-wise at least) from the auto-aggressive war mode "Bubble" Thargoids.

For one, they aren't marked on the GalMap in any way useful to avoid them(that I'm aware of), but as long as you aren't carrying Guardian/Thargoid cargo they will not attack unless attacked first.
If you do have cargo on board that irritates them, you can jettison it, and they will tractor beam it in and leave you alone.
There's also allegedly some odd interaction where if you are carrying a Meta-Alloy, they act angry, but won't actually attack, but I've never experienced it personally.

The short version is, you did everything right to avoid the Bubble Thargoids, but there's no way* to avoid the Nebula Thargoids, but they're mostly peaceful.

[*]The "Nebula" 'Goids only hyperdict CMDRs that have been "marked" by scooping a Thargoid Sensor or Probe.(can't remember which one, maybe both)
So technically if you've never touched one of those, you should never get hyperdicted by the "Nebula" 'goids.

If you are within a certain range LY wise of a Thargoid "bubble" AND Carrying "human cargo" you WILL be hyperdicted. (Yes in the bubble - Yes civilized space)

A war is going on - its a hazard - no different than a pirate interdicting you for any number of random reasons as you go forth.

So don't go near the war zone - don't carry human cargo (or anything else that makes them mad (see previous comments)) IF you do and your ship is essentially empty - and you will likely find yourself ignored - worse case - an hyperdiction with a heart attack and they just leave you alone as you skirt near a zone for any number of reasons.

I suggest you do a little research and read up on it - educate yourself and you will be forewarned and forearmed.
Welcome to Elite Dangerous CMDR.

I forgot to mention that my cargo was empty when I've been hyperdicted.

And the problem is that when the hyperdiction is done by Thargoid Hunters, they attack even without cargo!

That's why it's a real problem.

OP is in the Pleaides near the old barnacle sites, this isn't War related. The Thargoids in the Pleaides, Witch Head, etc Nebulas still only use the old pre-war code, and don't care about human cargo or have Hunter variants.
Ah I wasn't sure - don't have the galaxy memorized - but even then - he was indicating human civilizations so I preusmed he was in the bubble - even then it still applies more or less.

You got hyperdicted by a Glaive or Scythe in the Pleaides?!

This is news to me, wow. Yeah forget everything I said then, things have changed.

Yes, it happened to me just before the hyperdiction by the Interceptor.
The Galaxy is so dangerous now when you go to the Pleiades sector, even with an empty cargo.
I thought there was a way to plot a safe route to go to Delphi or Deciat using Galaxy Map filters, but it seems that it is not possible.
I think it's a real problem for new players who just want to go to Felicity Farseer...
The only safe way I found is to use a Fleet Carrier.

So either my Google-Fu is weak or nobody else has heard of this either.

Spooling up the drives on my FC to see if I can replicate this.

That's why - Guardian tech is an instant "agression" trigger for Thargoids.
I have never been automatically attacked just for having a Guardian FSD Booster installed. By the "peaceful" Nebula 'goids, the Bubble 'goids attack regardless.

But it's simply not true, they have never aggressed for modules, only cargo.

Edit: I do plan on testing this when I arrive, obviously if there are hunters out there something is up. The first ship I use will contain zero guardian modules/cargo.

I believe the war goids interdict not just in the systems they occupy, they do so in a radius. This is actually one of the more credible things about this 'war'. Pretty sure this was mentioned in another thread not so long ago.

Yeah, so just avoiding the occupied systems is inadequate, you have to give them a wide berth.

Arrived in system pleiades sector hc-l b8-1, the nearest system related to the war is hyades sector pi-s b4-0 -116.17ly Thargoid control. Two Maelstroms at roughly 150ly away.

In my zero guardian Krait MkII, peaceful scan.
Equipped FSD Booster, peaceful scan.
Still no sign of hunters.

I'll keep jumping around the area for a bit to see if I can get a hunter to show up.

It's happened to me. Unarmed ship just outside the Bubble, approaching from the Orion-Cygnus Arm. I had a guardian relic in my cargo. Was hyperdicted and blown up without warning. Lost nearly a year's worth of data. I didn't remember that the relic was in my cargo because I had collected it last year on my way out of the Bubble. (The sad story is on these fora, somewhere.)

Next time: (1) I will not plot a route to my home station. Instead, I'll jump one star at a time when I'm 1000LY away from the Bubble, and keep and eye on the status message while the drive scrolls up. If it says "Thargoid anything" I'll abort the jump (2) Remember the hotkey for silent running and heatsinks. There's nothing else an exploration vessel can do. (3) A fellow commander suggested a solution that didn't occur to me when I was staring at my ship being electrocuted by the Thargoid -- yank the network cable, quit the game, and pray!

Best of luck next time. I feel your pain, YugioHjCj.

That's no longer true. My alt got hyperdicted near the Pleiades before encountering any Thargoid items. That was back before console transfer.

If it was Nebula Thargoids, they did give you warning. They shut you down, scan you, if they see guardian cargo, they then glow menacingly and growl, encouraging you to jettison the offending cargo, before deploying the swarm and attacking.

If it was Bubble War'Goids, yeah they just start shooting and you go boom if you're a paper plane explorer.

I've spent the last few hours proving this is not true, and the Nebula 'goids are still "peaceful-within-reason".
I've been jumping between the Pleaides and the bubble for over an hour, sometimes getting as close a 2,3, and 4 LY from a thargoid control.

ZERO (hostile)HYPERDICTIONS, ZERO HUNTERS.

I don't get hyperdicted until I get close enough to the Merope Thargoid Bubble, which are all peaceful.

Unless the OP can provide some evidence, I'm calling this a wild goose chase, though it has proven that;
A)Other than Scythes and Peaceful Nebula 'goids, Thargoids do not hyperdict outside of Thargoid State sytems. Period, full stop.
B)The Nebula 'goids are still peaceful, and still don't care about guardian modules.

I'm not sure which denomination of Thargoid attacked me. No warning. Shutdown. Electrocute. Boom. Mine is an unarmed exploration vessel (specs in my signature) with minimal shields.
