How to boost Federal Rank?

OK so I'm getting ever closer to finally being able to buy a Federal Corvette. Currently I'm 79% Post Captain so next rank should be Rear Admiral. However, the grind is maddening and I wonder if there are currently any good systems out there to boost Federal ranks. I went to 17 Draconis for donation missions but there are no missions at all for me at the moment. Then I went to Tun but apart from a few data courier missions there have been nothing. I've been trading mostly within Fed systems but it's such a grind. I'm no need of money either - in fact I have so much I literally can't spend it (almost a billion on my account). So my best bet would be donation missions but I can't find any.

I went to some Investment state systems (namely Gabri) and I had luck yesterday, one of the stations offered several dozens of donation missions which helped a lot. But since then, again, nothing (maybe because I'm already allied there).

So, to make it short, does anyone know any currently good opportunity to boost that remaining 21%? Thank you commanders.

Hi there,

I've been working through Post Captain for a few weeks, currently on 41%. You know, I'm not sure there is any quick fix, speedy way to achieve other than graft and grind. There have been many posts re pointers/advice. I simply stick with any rep+++ missions, passenger or otherwise, and I always check stations I'm dropping's missions for tasty tasks. I do find scattered donations throughout destinations as well as my core station.

Good luck bro and mix it up......leave it and come back, don't let to dominate your game play, it may corrupt the fun!

I found a system in the middle of the bubble with five Fed factions, and started doing everything. Rep soon goes up.

All of the places I would have mentioned, you already knew about, OP. However, if you for some reason go mad, and want a Cutter too, Quince is the place to be. It's nothing but in-system passenger missions. Got the last 4 ranks I needed for the Cutter there.

I'm only Baron at the Empire so it's still a long shot. :) But thanks anyway. I spent my day searching for missions, thus only gained 1% today. Not good. I'll pick up the pace tomorrow. Hopefully it's not far away now.

Quince will have you a Cutter in two days if you tire of searching for Fed missions, haha.

How can you tell if the mission will cause you to rank up? As I have been sat at recruit pretty much since I started.

If you are asking how to tip over into the next rank when you are 100% of a rank, then you need to keep an eye out for a particular set of mission types that normally have either Naval or Navy in the title/description. Once you complete one of these missions you "rank up" into the next rank. You will typically only find these rank up missions when you are at 100% and are allied/friendly with the relevant local factions in a system.

If you are asking how to progress through a rank, then you just need to complete missions for local factions affiliated with your desired major faction (Feds or Imperials). The local factions have an icon to indicate if they are affiliated with the Feds or Imperials on the mission board. Completing these missions will progress you through a rank, some missions type give more progress than others.
