How to clear Wanted?

Hi

I have noticed that I am wanted by Blue Universal Industries and have a bounty of 1,000cr on my head, I have no idea why as I have just been trading in my type 6 and haven't even fired the guns on it !!! I am at Gooch Terminal and want to pay the bounty but there is nothing showing up on my contacts, all I can do is lock target, request docking or Back, how can I pay this fine/bounty? at various stations I am not given the option to pay it?

I am hauling 88T of cargo I nhave most of my credits invested in, so I don't want to get blasted and lose the cargo after rebuying my ship as I will be low on credits as I have only just moved from the cobra mk III?

Every station has a police station where you can pay your bounties and fines. Look under contacts in the station menu.
Are you carrying stolen cargo? Maybe the stuff you're carrying is illegal in this system?

go to contacts and look at the tabs, they usually have on where you can pay the fine. As for why you are getting it, you are probably carrying something illegal or violated some kind of station rule like transpassing once or twice.

Don't go to a large station that will have patrols and defenses, go to a small platform where you will be able to land and pay your fine and then return to the one that you were heading to.

I'm carrying nothing illegal, I suspect I got the fine for when my docking computer was going abit crazy and I took over.

When I goto contacts in the station all I see is the 'station' name contact and the other ships, there are no other contacts, I've been in about 10 different stations over the last few hours and none have any other contacts, I just read another thread which says this could be a bug and only way to clear is to be destroyed and buy a new ship.

Don't go to the contacts screen in the left hand panel - you want the contacts screen in the station itself, there will usually be 3 options (4 if the station has a black market), police, pilot's federation and combat bonds.

As a side comment, you should ALWAYS keep enough credits on hand to pay your insurance deductible, (about 10% of the cost of your ship and upgrades). If you invest "most of your credits" in your cargo and you get killed and you don't have the insurance fee, you will lose everything and have to go back to a free Sidewinder and start all over. :) Avoid the temptation to put you last credit into cargo or upgrades.
