Horizons How to complete a Sightseeing tour? SOLVED

SCAN THE BEACON, didn't think you would need to scan it, I mean why would the passengers care if you scan it or not lol

Perhaps its a bug, perhaps its something specific, in any case thanks for any help.

So I've accepted a passenger mission that wants to visit 3 different locations (visitor beacons/planets) I have arrived at my first destination and what do I do now? I haven't receive any notification that they want to proceed to the next one, will I receive anything? The quest itself hasn't updated either. I got up close and personal with both the visitor beacon (20meters) and as close as I could to the earth-like world they wanted to visit. (Mentioned in the first message), I waited but nothing happened am I suppose to do something specific? or do I just jettison these passengers into space and start another because its bugged? lol

Thank you,

Scannable objects will always be marked with a white square. If you see a white square on an object and are not sure how to interact with it, lock onto the square and the ship will scan it and reveal the results. Works the same way as a scan of a star or planet, but you have to initiate it yourself. They don't automatically get scanned.

ALL the visitor beacons require a scan to activate them. Same goes for private beacons found in debris fields etc.

Only ones that don't work that way that I am aware of are FSD Wakes which require a Wake Scanner vs the standard Discovery Scanner.

P.S. The missing visitor beacon bug is fixed as far as I know. The 2.2 release threads I have read about this bug is likely pilot error and not this bug. Many of the beacons found on sightseeing missions are placed in the outer reaches of the target systems and will not be immediately detectible on initial drop down.

As a general rule, if you don't see the beacon on your nav panel when you first arrive, do a full ADS scan of the system and look for the most distant bodies in that system. Its not unusual for these systems to have multiple stars, so if you see planets etc. that are like 150,000+ Ls away from the drop point, THAT will be where the visitor beacon is. You won't be able to see it appear on your scanner or nav panel until you are within scannable range. You should just set course for any one of those distant objects and head there. At some point, the beacon will appear on your Nav Panel.

I have done a total of six (4-5 stop) sightseeing missions in the 2.2 release version since yesterday. All six of them worked perfectly fine with no sign of the previous missing beacon bug. Prior to the fix, you would be lucky to find ONE completable sightseeing mission out of any given 6 of these attempted.

Not scanning the beacon got me also. You might notice also that when you look at the mission page showing your next destination, it will show the target body of the previous mission target body.
This means search time. I look in the system map for any water worlds or worlds with unusual ice cap formations or large rings.

The mission descriptions usually mention the need to SCAN the systems for the beacons if they are not immediately listed on your Nav Panel. Always a good idea to read the entire mission description before accepting the mission in question, and most definitely after you have taken it on.
