How to decorate a bridge

Here's how I build and decorate a bridge. I wonder if it has to be so exhausting or if there's functions I haven't discovered yet...

First I build an elevated path over the water, straight 90 degrees, with stairs on both sides.

And then... whenever I add a grid to that path and then click a building item which also has a grid, the path grid disappears and the building item appears with its own grid in some weird angle. So I have to turn it until it perfectly lines up with the path. Which is a nuisance, as if you only miss one degree, at the end of the bridge there will be a huge gap. I wonder if grid building parts can be aligned with paths? I would also highly appreciate to be able to use the keyboard to turn items 1 degree. It is so hard to do that with the mouse. And really mentally exhausting.

The same issue goes with the pillars or planks. They don't have a grid and they also come in weird angles and you have to align them perfectly to the bridge, otherwise if you copy/paste them it will look odd a bit further away. Please is there anything that would make this easier?

Thank you so much!

You could at first build a Bridge with Floor Pieces where you want the actual Bridge to be. Then add at least one Decoration on each Side (you can at first adjust it on one Side to be in the correct Position and then copy it together with the Floor Piece so it'll be in the right Position), align the Path Grid with the Grid of your Floor Bridge. Then copy your Decorations on both Sides until your happy with them and delete the Floor Pieces afterwards

If you check the 'align to surface' box with pillars and such they can stick out from the side of a path at a 90 degree angle, and then if you turn them with angle snap turned on they align perfectly. Then it's just a case of hitting 'ctrl+x' to replicate the items in place and drag them/rotate them to where you need them to be.

How could I forget to mention align to Surface? For some Things that's the perfect Tool to use👍
