Engineers How to defend missiles & torpedos?

Here is my damage report screenshot after fighting with a NPC pirating Fer-de-Lance, which was DANGEROUS ranked and definitely using 4 missile/torpedo launchers. I was in a high RES but no police vessels came to help. My rank is DEADLY.

I had a 7A shield generator with 2 A-rated shield boosters, 4 point defenses (2 front, 2 back).
My shields down in 30s but I also brought its shields down to one ring.
Then my huge multi-cannon malfunctioned even before I fired it, hull damaged to 82%.
Next my 2 front point defenses not working, at the same time my 2 of 3 large pulse lasers damaged too.
At this point, I only had 1 large pulse laser and 2 small multi-cannons still working, about 75% hull.
At the end this FDL accidently hit a rock and then rammed my hull, my hull down to 53%, it blew up, and my last large pulse laser broken.

Finally, my 6 of 8 weapons were broken (0% health), so were my 2 of 4 point defenses and 2 shield boosters, and my sensors down to 2% health. Surprisingly though, my thrusters, FSD and power system were fully operational and my shield generator still had 93% health, other subsystems were also 100% functional.

I know that missiles & torpedos are more usefull in 2.1, but is there any way to defend those silly crazy fast incoming missiles? I can't fit all my utility mounts with point defenses because I want to use shield boosters, KWS etc, and I can't escape because they have sort of target-tracking function and my ship Anaconda is too big and slow to run out of their range.

Any ideas?

you don't necessarily need all utility points pointdefence. one on the top and one on the belly helps already a lot. also: ECM. i think an anaconda has enough utility slot, to run both. i run two point defence on my trading cutter to defend my thrusters when running, works fine so far.
 
right, 2 are enough but also necessary. I've had earlier only 1 installed and occasionaly one missile or two got through...

edit: ECM now works? is this verified?

ECM works, yes. I'm thinking about using it for smaller ships. have in mind, ECM only works against seekers & torpedos, not against dumbfires, while PD helps against both - and npc equip dumbfires. my impression is: large ship: two pointdefence, small ship either 1 pointdefence or 1 ECM - in most cases you want to equip your pointdefence where your firing arc can't reach, because that is where the new AI is :)
 
Interesting. In preparation I actually swapped out two shield boosters, for two point defenses (on my Clipper) the night before 2.1 was released. So all I have of shields is 6c Bi-Weave with 204 MJ.
Didn't think they were helping THAT much until I read this.
