Powerplay How to earn merit without doing prep. , expansion or control?

I am currently in LHS 3447 and im pledged to Zachary Hudson. Where do i find such combat zone?

Go to the Hudson powerplay screen and select the expansion tab. It will tell you what systems you're expanding to and what to do to help the expansion. For Hudson that means fighting in 'Military Strikes', I think they're called. Travel to the system, and look near planetary bodies for the 'Military Strike' zones, enter the zone in the usual way and shoot the red ships :). Have fun.
.
n.b. you get the same amount of merits regardless of the size of ship you're shooting, so don't waste time on the Pythons and 'Condas.
.
p.s. Make sure you've got a decent ship, It can get quite hot in conflict type zones.

EDIT: Oops, i replied to the wrong person :) Corrected:

as soon as i can find a Vulture, im going to be undermining Archon <3
Sure, go mess up with the only guy who is not afraid to be hated for what he is, instead of the big guys who are loved for what they pretend to be...

I'm pledged for Hudson as well. Look on the expansion tab, go to one of those systems, and look for the combat zone. Kill lots of enemy. 10 merits a 'pop' . But keep a finger near the boost button. The ships in a CZ/SZ are tougher than the normal pirate. Also, you can get targeted by several at once if you're not keeping a close eye on who's where.
.
Or go to any other powers page, look on the control tab. Do what it says to undermine. 30 points a 'pop'. And easier, IMO. I just wander around in Archons space ( Huichi lately ) and they interdict me. Submit to the interdiction for no damage, kill the idiots for 30 points each, jump back to SC. Wash-rinse-repeat. Getting bored ? Interdict some Elite/Dangerous/Deadly haulers or T-6/7s. Easy merits AND pilot rank. Simple to run a score, and less dangerous than a CZ/SZ.

OP, don't bother with combat zones, you don't make enough merits per kill. The easiest way to earn merit is by flying to an enemy control system and killing any other powers ships (with the exception of powers aligned with your own). So for example, if like me you are working for Felicia Winters you are aligned with Zachary Hudson. Killing any of his ships will result in 'losing' 40 merits so don't do it!

The majority of ships in a control system will be enemy couriers for that control systems power and security ships from all the different powers. You can happily destroy them all, they will all give you merit you can bank. You will soon find yourself moving up the Ranks so long as you are a good enough combat pilot.

My advice is get a Vulture as soon as you can, give it class 3 gimballed beam leasers and A-rate the thing - you will be one mean puppy.
