How to easily upload all your journal files to EDSM without downloading any software

Uploading.

It helps to read: I first tried this with my netlog files and got an error (386 MB is too much?). Then I did it with the journals (only 17 MB) and it is uploading just fine now. Thank you!

So, how do I use EDDiscovery to upload the data? Or in general, what is the best thing to do with my data?

As far as i understand, my logs contain all the planets I discovered and scanned, atmoshpheric compositions etc etc. If I upload it to EDSM, what happens with the data there? And what about EDDB or other sites?

Instructions unclear, ship stuck in blender.

On a more serious note: this can be simplified a bit further by not requiring users to go to their folder, but including that in the command. So it'd be " launch powershell, paste in the following: cd '~\Saved Games\Frontier Developments\Elite Dangerous' | cat * | sc Journal.101026191221.02.log ". Perhaps redirect the output to the user's Desktop folder, so they don't need to go after the file.

@ ErichZann: your journal files contain nearly everything, even your in-game chat history: the messages you've sent to, and received from, other Commanders. Elite Galaxy Online has an option where you can view and delete the logs you've uploaded, so you can delete them after the object scans were processed from them. (At which point the files are no longer needed.) As far as I'm aware, EDSM doesn't have a feature like this yet. Which is why I'd recommend using EDDiscovery if you wish to upload scans there, so only the scans get send to EDDN. (Also, since it's open source, you can check that it really does send the scan events only.)

EDSM was originally built to store systems and their coordinates, and your flight log and such. EDDN is for planetary characteristics. So you'd likely want to upload to both. Using the web-based method in the OP to upload via the edsm.net website will take care of uploading to both, but in EDDiscovery, you'll have to make sure that it uploads to both, as they are done separately. (Which is good, because you might not want to upload your scan data before you sell the data in-game and get your tags.) Not that it's difficult, and if you have questions, the folks in the EDDiscovery thread can surely help you with them.

Ok thanks. I submitted my data to EDSM now after registering today. There I can see my ship, my ranks etc, but Distances submitted (and systems) says 0, although I can see a lot in EDD. Does it just count the ones from the day I joined the homepage or something?

edit: Yeah I am making jumps now and they directly pop up at EDSM. How do I submit all my old jumps? If I press "sync with EDSM" it just syncs the whole database again without any changes.

But... But... What about GDPR regulations in 3305? Those are highly sensitive personal data! Location history! Actions undertaken! Evarrrrythink! Think of the children!

:D :D :D

(sorry, couldn't resist, GDPR is a madness, and EDDiscovery is great. Use it. Recommended 11/10)

Good day! If the logs were lost from the computer, but were once uploaded to the EDSM, is it possible to export them somehow? If I understand correctly, it’s impossible to return them?
