How to eliminate some of the top graded Encoded, Manufactured and Raw Materials?

Sounds like a weird request, but please hear me out. I’m looking for an easy method to get rid of some of the top grade Encoded, Manufactured and Raw Materials. Doesn’t matter if I could sell em somewhere or just dispose em or park some on my FC somehow. The only method of decreasing top Grade Materials I currently know is to engineer something, but then I need to 1st research which top Grade Material is used in what module, get the un-engineered module and then take it to the appropriate engineer. This method is to cumbersome. One might wonder, why I keep speaking of the top Grade Materials, well I can easily discard lower grade Material by visiting the appropriate Material Trader and ‘up-trade’.

Why the heck would I want to dispose these Materials in the 1st place? I want to “eliminate” partially used up care packages from powerplay to lower the total number of care packages in order to avoid exceeding the ‘critical’ care package amount, which causes the bug where you can't use any care packages at all anymore.

Most likely there is an easy way, which I've just overseen ... 🤷‍♂️, so I would appreciate some help.

--------------------------------------

Update: Ok, if some of top grade Materials are no entirely filled up I can cross-trade at a material trader (this just occurred to me). But what if all of the top grade Materials of a kind (raw, manufactured and encoded) is maxed out?
------------
Update 05.082025 7:56UTC: Thanks to all that helped me. Seems as 99% of my problem is solved, if I use the material traders ‘correctly’ – before I was only used to down-trade (trading a higher grade material into a lower graded on the same row at a material trader). The concept of up-trading and cross-trading in order to intentionally waste materials is still new to me 🧐. Thanks All!
Now the only thing left: what to do if all materials are filled up? But basically my problem is solved.

What you need is called a material trader and allows you to convert materials you have into materials you don't have.
Yes, I'm aware of that. But what if the Materials of a kind (raw, manufactured, encoded) are all maxed out, then I can't down, up or cross-trade.
Most of my problem is solved though, I need ONE material which isn't maxed out preferably a top grade one, then i'm able to 'waste' materials by trading at a material trader.

I'm still interested in a solution for when every material is maxed out. But I admit, it's not as bad as I thought it is (intentionally wasting materials at a material trader is still a new concept for ma 🤣).

Update: Basically you are right and I can solve my problem by 99%. Originally didn't think the problem entirely through, sometime it helps to discuss things with others 😉 ...

You can transfer materials to your fleet carrier in the same way you can transfer cargo to it.
Hu? I must be stupid. We are not talking about the materials for suits and on foot weapons, but the stuff you need to engineer ship related equipment? I'll recheck, but I couldn't store those.

Ok, I re-checked and still can't figure it out, Can I somehow transfer the material to the FC from this screen?

If they are all maxed out why do you need a solution 🤷‍♂️

because then there is no space for the materials I get from care packages (power play) and the goal is to eliminate those (see OP). Of course it would be the best to just delete the care packages ... but as far as I know there isn't, they need to be used up.

I know the entire exercise seems absurd - I'm just trying to be gamy, because one can only own a certain amount of care packages from powerplay. Once that number is exceeded one can't access the care packages at all anymore, do to a bug (as I have read on the forums). Ok, one can still reset powerplay by un-pledging to get around the bug, but I don't want to restart powerplay and set my rank to 0 again.

If you are docked at your fleet carrier, you should have 'Transfer' next to 'Filters' up and to the right. Ah, I was imprecise, you need to be in the Storage tab right of the Inventory tab. See this screenshot:

It's not about on foot engineering materials but about ship engineering materials and these can't be transferred anywhere...
So it seems! Carriers should ideally be able to store those, but it seems Odyssey materials can be stored, not Horizon materials. Oh well.

Now the only thing left: what to do if all materials are filled up?
Do a synthesis (of anything, it doesn't really matter) to clear at least a single space, then do repeated cross-trades into and out of that space to burn off materials.

Switch to Undermining (ideally of systems with high System Strength Penalty) to massively slow down your merit earning rate and put off the problem.

Go on a deep space exploration trip to build up data for later Reinforcement merits, but don't come back and hand it in for a few years until the original care package problem is fixed.

That would be great if we could offload Materials to someplace else, like a carrier.

I'd like to be able to gather certain materials in larger amounts, but it's limited to 100-150 or so each Grade 4-5.

The main solution is to engineer modules. Just engineer everything. You could then have Grade 5 toilets with an extra soft toilet seat Experimental.

Love my Grade 5 Coffee Maker with Fast Brewing Experimental. ;)

I like to have everything filled up, this brought me into this dilemma in the 1st place.
I will try the grade 5 toilet :ROFLMAO:!!! - I very much love planning engineering in EDSY or such, I just hate visiting engineers if it is something I don't have the blueprint pinned.

I am not a PPer but if you have got to the stage where you have all your materials bins full and normal play isn’t really using them up much do you really need the contents of the care packages?

If I absolutely have too, I could just discard the care packages altogether and not worry anymore. In the past I just used up some of the care packages partially, which a) gave me the credits and b) some of the stuff in care packages is useful (hard to gather stuff like Biotech Conductors for example). After using a care package and stuff is left, because I'm already maxed out - the game will make a partially used care package and return it to the collection. I would dispose (just delete) these partially used packages if I could, but the game currently will not allow to do that.

So I don't haaaaave to haaave em and technically could do without care packages, but since there are there I'm sorta trying "to get the best of both worlds" 😁.

The problem here is you can't simply ditch those packages and they keep coming and coming... And then you get to the point where you can't open the care package interface any more as it crashes the game...

(so now that I know how to make room for just any stuff, I can use em up fully and then the partially used up care package can "fully be used up" and disappear thus keeping my total number of care package low => no care package bug while i rise in powerplay rank.) I don't care about further rising in rank (I'm above rank 100 and therefor gained all the perks and PP unique weapons, just keep on getting care packages from here on), but I do want to be able to put a system in different powerplay control state for my power and thus continue pp (and getting new care packages is nice too).

example full care package & partially used one:

One more (sorta offside) remark regarding the Power-Play care packages:

For those that wondered why this idiot (e.g. me) has his materials all at 100%.
I personally do like to keep all my materials at or near max allowed quantity, but I’m no weirdo (at least not that type of a weirdo 😜) that goes to a material trader and does trades until everything is maxed out 100%. But the care packages, if used will squeeze everything in, up to the last ounce until all the materials are at 100%, thus leaving no space to do trades at the material trader, hence this thread.
