Ships How to engineer Anaconda to last in res sites

I have been away from Elite for 4 years and would like to make my Anaconda as strong as possible to last hours in a hi res site for killing pirates in open play. Engineering is pretty new for me so could somebody tell me what I need to engineer and the best build-out.
I have levelled up with most of the engineers already.
I have every ship in the game I believe but I really love the old Anaconda, once I have mastered this build I will attempt to do all the rest lol.

Open doesn't come into it. Or rather, if you want to last for hours against other CMDRs intent on killing you - you won't. Especially not in an Anaconda.

So, you're going to need to unlock and rank up with all the ship engineers. Either only those in the Bubble, or both the Bubble and Colonia - you'll need the Bubble engineers to get the invitations for the Colonia engineers. This site may help you with this:
The old layout was imo better for checking out the progress through the engineers - basically, you start of with a handful that are common knowledge, fulfill their initial requests, rank up with them and at some point gain the address for another.
When designing your ship, you can play around with the loadout in Coriolis:

As far as I remeber, the 'conda is working best as a shield tank - so you might want to investigate either shield cell banks and/or Guardian shield boosters (I prefer the latter, less manual work). Getting familiar with the Disney Princess in order to obtain Prismatic Shields might also be advisable, although personally I never did and use Bi-Weaves.
If you say you want to stay for hours, you'll also need to decide whether you want to go for lasers (no ammo, but lots of power) or any form of ammo usiing weapons, which might require ammo synthesis, which will require you to collect raw materials (a process you'll be familiar with after engineering your ship, though...).

Thanks, Ashnak, I am using the third-party tools and have pretty much got all the bubble engineers opened up. What I need help with is figuring out what to engineer on the ship as it is a bit confusing now with so many choices i.e. guardian or engineer.
I imagine the best way with the Anaconda is to make it a tank and use lasers.
I love doing pirate missions and stacking them up because I have been away for so long that I need to take my 1 billion credits and turn them into a fleet carrier.
Currently, I am using my Fer De Lance on the missions un engineered but when I take a wing of 3 on I have to be careful lol.

An Anaconda really isn't the ship you want to use for that.

But if you must: get some military composite armor on it, put Multi-cannons in the large slots, beam lasers in the smaller slots. Get a 7C Bi-weave shield, mount OA shield boosters across the board with one slot left of a kill warrant scanner. Mount hull reinforcement modules as much as you can and throw in a couple of module reinforcements too.

Guardian stuff doesn't do a thing for you against pirates, really. Only exception are the shield boosters, but you don't need them.

Frankly, you'd be far better off in a Challenger, Chieftain or Krait Mk II for 1/3rd the price. I personally stack pirate massacre missions in my FDL these days. I only dock when I run out of ammo. Typically, I can kill between 50 and 75 pirates before that happens though.

Anaconda is fine for this. If you’re doing pirate massacre missions, make sure you’re stacking them, via the ‘edtools’ web app, use the ‘massacre’ button.

The build for a long res session is shield based (biweaves ideally) and lasers, so that you don’t run out of ammo. You can add ‘plasma slug’ PAs or railguns if you want to relieve the monotony. You should also definitely use a ship launched fighter.

In terms of engineering - do everything. Since the build is laser based, ‘long range’ is great because it completely removes damage dropoff. This instantly bumps up your damage and is very cheap to do in materials terms, since even one level removes the dropoff effect from that gun.
On the defensive side, use shield boosters not guardian shield reinforcements. You should also engineer the shields and boosters.

Its a good idea to try out ideas in “edsy” and keep track of materials you need in “inara”; this makes the whole process a lot easier.

Also - don’t be too proud to add turrets. I’m also a big ship fan, and turrets definitely have their place, especially for this kind of res zon /cz stuff.

Finally - you should definitely engineer the thrusters, at least to dirty / drag drives grade 3, with Felicity Farseer. The extra manouverability helps.

It’s a good idea to switch to ‘solo’ mode for engineering stuff. Lots of gankers hang around engineer bases, especially farseer in deciat. A gang of them can take down anything, so go careful :)

Good luck!

Greetings,

For rez sites I found my Anaconda with two fighters works for me with a pick and choose the fight flying. Later with the Corvette with two fighters, more maneuverability plus more armour and shields it is blast away in a rez and can also interdict. Beams are for the small fry and frags for the big guys up close and personal which makes me smile! :)

What is the best build for you? With so many variables it cannot easily be answered. These are examples of two ship builds which has nothing to do with your combat experience, flying skills and weapon preferences. ED is designed very well so that a player figures it out over time what works best for them. Have fun.

As for Open mode that is a totally different combat game and ship builds. Be an expert at situational awareness and be prepared to run or bring lots of credits for the rebuys. With my awesome Corvette I invited honorable PvPers in Shinrata Dezhra to engage with me one-on-one. They even let my fighter launch and defend me before starting the combat. No matter what ship that they flew I was destroyed every time. Bring expert PvPers to protect you. Even then it may not help.

Still in a rez an Anaconda looks pretty and might influence new players in Open mode.

@commander splat – Regarding stacking those Massacre missions, I invite you to try INTRA (announcement thread), designed specifically for this! When you search for Shops and Arenas together, it will pair them such that all Massacre missions from the Shop will be targeted at the Arena. These are ranked mostly by useful Shop factions, where faction activity is tracked using public reports.

Faction types, faction states and system ownership can all change daily; for example, it helps a lot to invest in faction reputation at multiple Shops you like, so that you can move around easily if a war starts (being at war reduces the number of useful factions temporarily). Note that the ranking also considers places to hunt and Supercruise distances; optionally, also Powerplay bonuses and the distance to a reference system. Various filters are also available, such as requiring a minimum number of Imperial factions.

Unfortunately I am also in the medium-is-better-than-heavy club, though I hope your Anaconda loadout works for you!
