how to explore

do i just get an asp and start going in a random direction?

the farther off i go the more valuable the scans?

are scanned civilized sector scans worth less?

and other than being able to jump farther, is there an advantage to getting the asp over the adder?

i'm currently reading ur guide... and you're getting me excited, great work!!! i was starting to get bored of mind numbing trading, and grindy bounty hunting... time to get adventrous! thank man!!

if you dont mind me asking.. do you think it's an ok idea to just get an adder to save money at first (i have a type 7, so i can get the money to an asp if needed) or is saving for the asp a better choice?

The consensus is that the hauler is the cheapo exploration ship. The cobra is better, though.

You don't "need" and asp. Any ship with a jump range => 20 is good! I'm in a Cobra. Any direction is a good direction, but going 'up' will reduce the possible jump range eventually.

Nope.

Prolly the view.

Be careful though, if you get the exploring bug, you may find yourself going further and further out. And in this explorers experience, coming back to civilisation is a necessary evil.

Depends on your cash, Hauler is the best for view and cost on a budget, Adder has a poor view and less range.. After the Hauler - Cobra Next... then ASP, when you are a Billionaire - Anaconda

I have beenexploring mostly since the launch in December. For the past month or two I have had the Cobra. Exploring doesn't pay great but it is less stressful than any of the other professions in game. Make sure you have both Detailed Surface Scanner and the Advanced Scanner. The latter will mean you can see what each system you visit contains from on quick scan when you jump into a star system.
