how to farm GERMANIUM now?

use the Dss filter options on blue heat map. i don't know why they chose blue, heat maps are usally red?
It's not a heat map anymore. It's a yes/no map. It was changed not long before release.
Heat map are a gradient of color. Not necessarily red
yes but when i land in the blue area there's barely any rocks let alone crystals or anything around
Hotspots are gone in Odyssey, it's normal.

Germanium as a G2 material is pretty easy to get without needing a specific site.
Drop down onto the planet - in the blue zone is probably better if it has one, but doesn't really matter - and follow the SRV scanner signals for mesosiderites, metallic meteorites and outcrops. If there aren't any about, back to the ship, take off and move 100km or so along, then try again.
Another option for G2 materials - Irregular Markers and some of the other Odyssey surface sites have cargo racks. Slice the seals with your Maverick suit and that's six raw materials to scoop up, then blow up the rack afterwards (scoop the six first!) for a bonus seventh. Won't necessarily be Germanium but you'll get a bunch of G2 materials and the occasional G3/G4 which you can either use or trade.
