Cliffson did these two excellent threads that allow you to work out the effect on manoeuvrability / speed of any thrusters, he updated the first page with info about 2.1 thrusters, and the second page should still be correct.

You can use edshipyard or coriolis.io to see exactly how much power you can spare (on an unmodded ship anyway) and what you'd maybe need to power off or lose if you get a bad RNG roll.
Heat I'm not sure about, but I can see that class 5 dirty drive thrusters will make my racing ships run very, very hot!
