Engineers How to find a MatsTrader with a specific material?

I need some more specific mats for a new Engineering upgrade. Now we have Inara to find the right kind of Mat Trader, but with my darn luck they never have the right material "in stock". Feels damn silly to hop over the whole galaxy just to find the very one trader who happens to have those Modified Consumer Firmwares, right? I mean, traders are meant to make things easier, not to damn annoy us even more.

So ... is there a way to find the right trader with the specific material? inara doesn't seem to have that info.

The UI for the trader might be confusing - what you see in the UI is what you have in your inventory, so the stuff you're lacking is always greyed out/at zero. Never mind - just select what you want to get (gets highlighted), then the trade options (and exchange rates) will light up, then select what you are wwilling to trade in.
If you are cross trading (across lines) for high level materials (right side of the matrix), it may also simply be that you don't own enough materials to get what you want.

I'm sorry if this is off-topic, but I can't figure out what this is about. I mean, there are material dealers around...

Simple. I managed to choose the materials the wrong way around. If you do that, then materials which you can't synthesize are shown in red, so it seems as if a mats trader doesn't offer that material.
Which was simply the wrong impression due to a very simple error in thinking.
