How to find a ship to buy?

Excuse me if I'm wrong but,

Is it me or there is no way to find clearly where to buy a specific ship? I mean, apart from guessing which type of ship are in specific type of stations, there is no way to search for a specific ship.

Why? I mean even in a realistic way we should know where to find what!

Even the weapons.

If I want a vulture or something else I should be able to type "vulture" somewhere on the galaxy map and it would show me where to find it. No? Why?

Most of the time High tech systems have the best stuff on offer. But even those differ from time to time.
You'll have to search a bit, but in general it is doable.

Thank you for your advices but I already knew the most of them, the fact is that I don't find normal to have to search for that kind of think.

You will maybe find this a bit too "easy way" but I don't know why we have to search for things like that.

Do you find it being a good design decision?

EDIT: sorry if the way I wrote my first comment assumed that I didn't know those facts.

Things like that could appear in Local System News, like adverts. Not all the time but enough to help players get an idea where to find stuff in the local area they are in.

IMHO it is an excellent decision and 100% compatible with Elite lore. You are supposed to find your own way in the Galaxy, fly around systems and find all equipment you need (and you can pay for).

P.S. But AFAIK, all smaller ships are available almost everywhere. And almost any hi-tech world has a selection of 10-15 types handy at the shipyard.

Your own way on the galaxy doesn't mean the galaxy can't live without you! At least put some commercials! XD For now it seems a bit like the station doesn't want to sell something!

Anyway that's what I think and I don't contest your thoughts! Just want some opinions on this. Thank you

You know, even the selling new ships is almost not compatible with original lore and the whole shipyard thing where you are able to buy brand new ships cheaply is in game just for simplicity.
In and old fashioned way, you was supposed to inherit an old wreck or find some really old, but thrustworthy ship on some scrapyard. This part was ommited from ED for sake of simplicity.

Sorry I'm not really aware of the lore since the gameplay has more impact for me. Thank you for the fact.
