You could look at galaxy map and look at each system and check if any factions are at war with each other.
View the system map, move your cursor/target over empty space and you get a list of all the factions and their state.
If any say war or civil war then they have CZ in their system.

That conflict zone thread is way out of date and pretty much useless. I've tried to use it half a dozen times and never had any joy out of it. Actually find more cz's by jumping to random systems.
Any conflict zone thread you find is almost 100% way out of date. The only way to do it right, is to check the system map of every single system one by one and check to see if any factions are at war, as was mentioned above. These things can change extremely often. I have had some start and end in the same day already. Some last days. It's not a sure thing, and it's why no thread will ever be up to date.
They should really add a ton of filters to our galaxy map. It's so tedious to use for certain things.

I've found a system with civil war, but I can't seem to find the Conflict Zone. Help?
id suggest to join a community, there are always known places of conflict zones among our community.

Fly toward the planets in the area. You need to be fairly close for the CZ to appear.

How close? I am currently in a system with one star, and I am 11 MM from the only star. I see no Conflict Zones... and both main factions are at civil war.
Well, some systems have their listed status as war or civil war. Some other ones do not, yet have factions that are at war or civil war. I am not entirely sure what the difference is between the differences mentioned, but factions and systems that have actual "war" tend to always have conflict zones. At least I have yet to find one that has not. The civil war is hit or miss. Sometimes they don't have any. They usually do though. Again, I am not 100% sure what is going on behind the scenes with the conflict zones.
Could be a neighboring system. Check the map to see if they occupy another area.
War means an invading faction is at war with another minor faction in that sector. When the war is over someone gets or keeps a station. End of. Conflict over.
Civil war means 2 factions are fighting over the controlling station.
I think sometimes it's ongoing for a while.
The minor faction has to take over other stations before attempting the controlling station. This maybe why a Civil War has breaks in the fighting.
Prolly a long shot but there is a war zone in Timocani system. Been there a week now, was still there this afternoon.
You should fight for Timocani Purple Posse or you will prolly get killed by me.
