How to find "human" signal from a planet (or is it even there?)?

Hi!
I'm exploring way out in the black (thousands of LY from the Bubble), and came to a DSSA fleet carrier. In the system it is in, it is orbiting a moon (of a gas giant). When I scan the moon, it gave me 3 signals, 2 geological and 1 "human". I don't recall having seen such "human" signals ever since I left the Bubble years ago (there at the time I found occasionally such, which would turn out to be some abandoned this-or-that which I could scan and perhaps get some cargo items).

Now I'm wondering:
  • Does the "human" signal actually refer to the fleet carrier orbiting the planet, or something actually on the planet surface?
  • If it does refer to something on the planet surface, how would one go about finding it these days?
The last time I saw such signals in the Bubble was way back when I could target them from the navigation panel and then home in on them within the planet. But now neither the planetary map nor the navigation panel seemed to show anything I could target for this contact. So should I just randomly try to search an entire planet's surface to find something? Or is there some algorithm that would place whatever this would be somewhere in the vicinity of me when I land, regardless where I land? Or am I completely misunderstanding something?

Does it show up as a POI on the planet surface? If not, then its probably the carrier...

After mapping, get a little closer to the planet surface and then you will see any POIs as targetable objects, as well they will be in the nav list in the left panel. But you may have to get closer to be able to see them.

The Geo/Bio will only show as POIs in Legacy v3.8. In Horizons v4.0 and Odyssey, they will NOT show as POIs.

The human signal shoudl show as a POI but if not then it may be the carrier in orbit.

I can check again the next time I log on, but at least I didn't notice any targetable entities while I approached and landed on the surface (and drove around in my SRV a bit). And also looked at the navigation panel, at least its "main tab". I probably didn't look at the "contacts" tab, so I can check that too next time.

I'm starting to also lean on it being the fleet carrier, but it seems a bit odd that it would show in the planetary scan.

Anyway, good to know that actual human signals / POIs should still be visible in the navigation panel and the targetable view - thanks!

The notable signals displayed in the FSS, DSS, the cockpit when near a planet, even the system map are all the same data - so incorrect. (Though, human sources are listed under "locations" instead of "features" in the FSS)
No, they show up. I was mighty confused by this the first time I encountered it also. The human signal on that planet turned out to be my own carrier. :p

Yeah, a while after I wrote that I remembered having had it happen to me with my own carrier... 🤷‍♂️
