I`m seeing this in the "night sky", and would like to visit, but have no idea how to go from an "interesting object in the sky" to a direction - could anyone advise as to how to go about figuring out how to find out? By the way, I purchased the Mandalay Stellar and did some engineering (I might have been better off buying the basic one, for all the modules I changed) - I'm getting a bit over 80ly with it and quite like the SCO, which means my exploration Krait II will probably get retired...
How to find objects in the sky

Dead reckoning, mark a star on the galmap with target, see if it's in the right direction (that is sort of close in direction to the object your seeking) and keep doing that until you get it right. Usually aligning by using big landmarks like the magelanic clouds and andromeda galaxy helps. That, in particular, is NGC 7822, so far quicker to ask here. Keep in mind, anything you spot in the star map that stands out to any degree has been visited probably many times.
