how to find small populated systems on galaxy map?

as above, I am struggling with technicalities, I try to find remote places with let say asteroid bases with very small population. When I put min population slider to zero, and max slider just one step up, map shows me all system as white blobs, instead of showing me nothing as I would expect, not sure what I am doing or getting wrong?

If I am reading your post right, I think your population slider settings would exclude all inhabited systems, rather than just isolate the small population ones. Try setting minimum population to 1,000 or nearby and the max population to 50,000. You might still grab some systems near the heart of civilization but it should exclude all empty systems.

Just to say I am not a complete idiot, for me it works only when I set what I need on population slider, then exit the galaxy map, then enter again. It does not work on the fly like most of other filters for some reason. Same on my son's computer/account.
