Newcomer / Intro how to find tourist sites on planets?

hi,

I am a new player to ED on ps4. I recently bought a dolphin and want to do some passenger missions. now I have tried some missions where a passenger wants transport to a system and wants to go to a planet and see a tourist location. now my question is how do I find it? I scanned the sys but find nothing, scan the planet and find nothing. yesterday a passenger wanted togo to a system and needed to be transported to a starbase that I could not find on the system map. I scanned the sys and found some planets. I scanned them to but found nothing. can u help me please? I really like the game. I am addicted ;-)

thx cmdr Darklord_666_999

Tourist locations are shown in the LH navigation panel when you are within 1000ls. This is automatic, doesn't require a scan or anything. You should be told which planet to find them on by the passenger when you enter the system, the information will also show up in the passenger mission description as well as a globe indicator in the nav panel.
If the system you enter is unknown to you, you must discover it. To do this you can, a) go to the nav beacon (enter from super cruise, and scan the White satellite - can be targeted in the LH contacts panel) or b) use the discovery scanner (if you don't have the advanced the nav beacon is better). This will show you where everything is - again the nav beacon is better as it will show you the details. In either case you should get the mission symbol (globe) against the location in the LH navigation panel. Also all stations and planetary bases can be seen in the system map - 4th tab.

thx for the reply!
I have seen the symbol at the globe, but couldn't find the starport. the beacon was corrupted, maybe that was the reason why I couldn't find the starport.
I will check this 2night! :)

Compromised nav beacon just means that it's unsafe as there won't be any law there - Good for bounty hunting when you have experience and a good ship - they work just the same as normal ones. Oh and don't hang around if you have cargo or your passengers don't want to be scanned.
Make sure you are scanning the nav beacon, it it a satellite and will appear as a white target - don't be fooled by the orange marker that says nav beacon, that's not it. If you have scanned the nav beacon, then all planetary ports will be visible in the nav panel.
Also if you have a unknown planet with a globe, simply target it and super cruise towards it. Once you are near your ship will automatically scan and identify the planet and any bases on the planet.

If you are far away from the body with the globe symbol, you won't initially be able to see the starport. Here there are two options:

a) once you get closer to the "body with the globe" go back to the screen listing the planets, moons etc. You will find that "XYZ Base" or "Gas Jets" (if it's a tourism mission) or whatever will pop up. If it appears instead as unidentified (but the globe will have shifted from your first target) then

b) do not lock the new target, but get closer to the "body with the globe" at a much slower speed than you would normally. Soon a scan of the the "body with the globe" will start automatically, and when it's finished, the unidentified target will change to "XYZ Base" or "Gas Jets" or whatever. Then lock on that target.

Doing (b) is not strictly necessary, because you can scan the unidentified base, geysers, etc even if unidentified (and land at them), but I find that it saves time the next time you get a mission to visit them.
