How to gain rank in Empire?

At the moment I am aimming for the Imperial Clipper (Shiny). I mainly do RES bounty hunting and got myself allied status with Empire. But I still don't see any options for me to gain my rank. I read they say there is some naval mission or something but they are no where to be found.

anyone can give me some tips?

Yup! Pick a minor faction that is Empire based and do missions for them that are posted on the bulletin board. Do enough of them then a Naval Progression mission will appear. Move up a rank and rinse and repeat.
Note, you may need to move from time to time and select a different minor, Empire based, faction to keep the advance going.

Currently a Baron. Atlantis was the system I worked in to gain that rank.
Sadly I think the Major faction I want to align with doesn't control that area of space. I'll have to work on that. :)

can you clarify
you are Allied status with Empire ... and have had no Naval missions at all ... or have you gained some ranks already & are not getting any new opportunities
it seems very unusual to have achieved Allied status & not have any missions offered.
I would advise going to a system that has 3+ Empire minor factions , when you complete a mission for one of them , be sure to look at your reputation with all of them.
FOOD donation missions are always a safe bet .. it will have a positive impact on every Faction present in that system

i have allied status but rank is None. i have not yet encounter a Empire system with 3+ minor factions. Currently I am at Persephone with only 2 minor factions. hm... let me google were is their captial...

Just keep plugging away at bulletin board missions (avoiding the assissination ones which appear bugged), trading and handing in Bounties and exploration data. The progression missions will come.

i have traveled multiple systems and still can't find it

Just hail the emperor and bask in his glory, you'll be fine. ;)

Missions will come up in Empire aligned systems as you gain rep with them from doing stuff on the bulletin boards.

No need to travel. Just base yourself in a Empire cotrolled station and start running missions. Courier, fetch and carry, whatever. Eventually, rank progression missions will appear. Yokai's guide is good information, but I'm not sure spreading rep around with minor factions actually works any better than just running missions from one location. I've read other theories that rank progression missions actually unlock after you've run enough missions. 5-10 for lower ranks, and maybe 15-20 for higher ones, and another post from a Commander who said he just ran all his missions out of the faction "capitol systems", and rank came regularly enough, so thats what I did. I just got done with Ensign for the Federation, and it was more like 30 mission from Warrant Officer to Ensign. But I ran the last three ranks all out of Sol, and that worked well enough for me. I didn't travel or try to boost rep with minor factions. Most I came across I was already allied with anyway.

Either way, there is some randomness involved. So don't get discouraged if they don't start popping up one after another. Just keep grinding missions out, and they will come.

I found the best way forward was to do the 'reputation increase' missions.

You won't make much money on them (as there is usually no payout for them) but your rep will go up faster.

Be sure you're doing them for an Empire aligned faction in whatever system you are in (ignore ones for the Independents).

They normally involve delivering non-lethal weapons, foodstuffs, or freeing slaves (NOT Imperial ones - be careful here).

When you've gained enough rep, you'll see a 'Progression Opportunity' mission appear on the board (possibly more than 1 - only take 1!) and carry it out for the next rank.

Then rinse and repeat as necessary.

Oh, and if you get a permit, accept it, but don't feel you have to go there, as the 'rep' missions will keep coming wherever you are.

If you go like stink before Powerplay you may be able to get to the rank you want!

Mostly from the Lao Zi, Gandui and nearby systems run.

Take Pro Cells from Dixon in Gandui to Sutcliffe in Lao Zi, then return with Gold - makes a mint, and when the 'rep' missions come up, everything you need is within a 20ly radius...
